Hi I'm new to the site and I had questions about growing scrog. Never done it before and was wondering what the lighting I should use in that size of a tent as far as led goes and if there's any advantage. Also what's the yield difference in scrog vs letting the plant grow naturally? Any help is appreciated thanks

Do a 12 plant SCROG. 6 plants in a 4x4 gets me about 1.5 lbs of high quality bud.

OR, Do a sea of green (SOG) with clones and only veg for a week or 2 at most....best use of time to get best yield is simply to eliminate Veg....least fun in my opinion but probably best for a production line out of a small tent. Only get about 1 oz per plant but you get ALOT of plants.

OR, grow medium size to big size plants and top them often to keep them bushy and low to the ground in order to mitigate some of the heat from lights and growth room, keep in mind plants "double" in size during bloom so you may not need more than 12 doing this as well. 8 if you want large plants.

All are viable options in terms of quality and quanity...its just how YOU want to grow....these are grow STYLES.

RE Equipment:

I like to grow as a hobby, and I earn well so I dont have advice on how to do this "on the cheap". My best advice, based on what you have written is:

if you want a 4x8, any tent will do...i buy Gorilla Grow Tents, they are very high quality but expensive...most other tents are the similar.

lights are a very debatable topic. my bloom room has tall ceilings and so im converting myself to Gavita with LEDs for angled side lighting. My favorite LEDs of the 3 brands ive used is Viparspectra. They are pretty inexpensive on amazon. 89 for 300 watts, 189 for 600 and 399 for 1200. For your single tent ide go with 2x 1200w and maybe drop a CFL in each corner. Alternatively you could do 4x 600s or 8x 300s etc. Heat with these exists but its minimal.

Thanks this info is very informative I've had a few small closet grows over the years just never done scrog and finally coming into a place where I can expand my grow to a 4x8 tent. I was looking into buying a gorilla grow tent 2 1200w leds and set up my fan and filter me. Being in Az we have really low relative humidity so I've never had a problem with too much humidity I've tried different mediums but I've found coco works the best for me (we'll see though once the grow is expanded) Ansley any tips on when I should start scrogging with topped plants and how much veg time is necessary (in my other grows I would normally go 3 weeks to a month for my closet grow)

I love coco coir...recently switched from Canna to Fox Farms Coco Loco and am going a more organic route in an attempt to convert over fully at some point. Gorilla Tents are amazing...i think the one on amazon comes with the height extension which is awesome.

incredibly better...i love the touch and feel of canna but the coco loco plants looked SOOOO much better in a side-by-side I just did last month. The results made me convert permanently. It was obvious the organics they are adding to the coco made a huge difference. At this point Im not amending it further but in the future ill probably be mixing some kelp meal in with it and installing a drip system from a resevoir that im going to run only cal-mag and water at 200ppm or maybe some small amount of npk and cal-mag at like 400ppm.

Scrogging allows you to: Get light to bud sites that wouldn't otherwise, even out your canopy so your top buds are all getting the same light, increase yields. The pic is 3 plants in a scrog.

Thanks, tent is a 10x10

Lights are 2x1000W Hortilux Super HPS running on Hortilux Gold ballasts, with a 315W CMH between them. The CMH is the light that's on, I turned it on a few mins before the big boys fired up. Girls are a Fire OG and Deathstar cross. Running Cyco nutes only this run....usually I mix in microbes and fungui from Key of Life but im trying to budget til I harvest lol

I was thinking about cyco the grow shop by my house is a big supplier of theirs they offered to give me a sample pack of their line I might check it out

Def worth checking out the Cyco line. I'm going to be moving away from it soon to try more organic inputs but for now, Cyco works like a charm
