Yea you can finish up your girly with the 250 for now. just keep the light as close as possible without burning her and that will help the buds fill out.
But it def not an ideal amount of light for the size of a tent.
I was using a 3x3x6 with a 400watt. I was able to get 4 nice girls. but I know it would have been better with more light.
and like Ilovebush said. 600w would be great in there with a nice air cooled hood.

if you have so much extra space, you might benefit from placing the bulb verticaly. but i dont see a problem if you only have 1 plant. 250w hid is plenty for 1 plant 
.
Other than that i must say i agree with previous comment on 600w. when i had a 4x4 tent, i used all from 600w 2x400w and 600w+400w with great results. I have seen threads where people have gotten good results with a 400w in a 4x4 area, but i have no experience of my own doing this.

I utilise a 400w in a closet that measures 3.2x7x8.
My active growing area is 3.2x3.2. The extra space allows me to run a dehumidifier, tubular heater, oscillating fan on a shelf.
I average +400g from my setup.
If humidity isn't an issue for you then go for a 600w and fill the tent.
If your humidity now with one plant and the 250w is anything over 40-50% then expect it higher when the tent is full.
I try to maintain my RH around 40% during later flowering.

Sweet! Exactly what I was looking for. I'll finish her up and look for a 600w air cooled. I just bought this tent with a nice carbon filter and inline fan. The fan is loud as fuuuccckkk though. Anyway I can quiet it down? Would a speed controller work? How much would one run for a 6 inch inline fan? I'll post pics of the new room once its all set up I need to buy some 6in ducting andstuff to hang the filter.

The noise level is considerably lower once hooked up to the filter and you add some ducting. But yes, a fan speed controller will lower the noise as well when turned down. My 6" inline is pretty much unnoticeable when hooked up and turned to the lowest speed. They are pretty cheap ($20 dollars or so).

You know, I've had the same old Hydrofarm Active Air 6" (that I bought used even) for so long I've never had a chance/need to try any other brands. I've never needed to do any maintenance on it or anything over the years although I had it down to clean a couple of months ago - but it was almost spotless due to running right behind my carbon filter and I didn't even really need to clean the blades.
They'll most definitely carry inline fans at a hydro store.

Well I've got a 495 cfm inline fan already wirh a nice scrubber they came with the tent but I need to buy some ducting and what not in the morning. I just need to get a speed controller somewhere for it. Its just a little loud little so I figure I'll see how loud it is with the ducting then see if I need a speed controller, woch I figure I prolly will haha

You would be better of with a controller that responds to the tent temperature and adjusts accordingly, thus maintaining the desired temps, which you would set.
They are available via eBay and the like.

IF you are only growing one plant and the entire canopy is under the light reasonably well, it'll be great. 250w is great for one plant
