I have a 430W HPS, going to do it in "soil-less" mix (Pro-Mix)....... 10 seedlings all feminized............. They are the "Skunk # 1"......... they are Indica...... what should the dimensions of my closet be? What type of ventilation will I need for such a project and what will my yield be like at the end of the process all together after harvesting/manicuring/drieing (ready product to smoke lol!)

Bro thanx anways but I already saw that on DVD, but I still was curious about those specifics for that type of setup, thanx.

When you germinate them can you just directly place seed in container or paper towel method is better?

Hi, I'm also kinda doing the same thing you're doing ( I have a 430w hps). I'm making a wooden cabinet that's 4x4x7. The thing is, my seeds are not feminized. So, you're going to have far less space in the long run and really a 430 hps isn't enough to stretch the space much more than 3x3x7.

It is possible, though. You can scrog them. Flower early instead of vegging for a long time. Probably won't be able to top them or anything like that but skunk is a pretty good yielder, so I hear.

I would say paper towel method also. There's really no logic behind this, as I'm still preparing for my first grow. I think I would just want to know what the problem was if it didn't sprout. Was it just a bunk seed... or was it something else..

Anyways, I hope everything works out. I'm waiting on my hashberry seeds and can't wait to get started.

Okay then what would be ideal space under 430 HPS? I want to do 10 plants and are 3 gallon buckets fine?

There's only one way to grow 10 plants under a 430 hps. SOG, sea of green, look it up.

Your dimensions could be 2'w x 2.5'L x 2.5'h for all 10 plants, keep the plants small. The space that houses that grow area must be at least 2.5'w x 4'L x 4.5'h.

Soiless mix is fine but get 10 individual 6" pots (like 80 cents per) from the 'dro store, you'll probably want to shuffle the plants at some point.

For cooling you'll need 160 cfm at a miniumum, 250+ recommended. Cool tubes and inline fans are great, a really good investment. Inline fans are much better at pushing and pulling air through ductwork, and are good with cool tubes.
Cost (for two pieces cool tube and 250-440 cfm inline fan) $250 + ducting.

If you're cheap you can just buy a 250cfm squirrel cage fan, but they don't do as good a job at cooling. You're light will be farther away in order not to burn the plants, about 5-9" higher. Cost $120 + ducting.

Happy Shopping :)

Also, I was using 30 cubic foot per minute cooling, oversize computer fan. Should do the trick as long as u don't plan growing in mid summer, and you can supply outside fresh air.

I used 2 x 400w in a 3 x 5 ' closet. u can do 3 x 3 with 430 watts, and grow 3' tall plants easily.
3x3? What about the height of the closet and wouldn't it be better to do more then 3 because I heard the more plants the quicker the cycle? What would be the max I can do under this type of light (430W HPS)?

Hi, my closet is 7 feet high. I only grow my plants about 3 feet tall or so depending on the strain.I use 3 gallon pots with pro-mix type of soil (peat, vermiculite, perlite), and
you could probably grow about 8 plants in that space, depending on how well the pots fit together. I can get about 15 plants in my 3 x 5' closet, and I find that is pretty optimum. If possible, you can have a separate vegging area if you want more production. The vegging can be under a fluoro setup because the plants are smaller.
Larger grows, of course, entail more risk.
