42 days into flower too soon ?

yeah man that seems like to short of time for ur plants to be fully developed, altho i did here that the strain ak 48 is meant to be finished in 48 days but i dont know if thats true or not

is that 42 days after the transfer period (after you cut the lights you have 12-14 days of a transferance where your plant is not in bud and it doubles in size)

Depends on your strain...some can finish flowering in 6 weeks

This counting of days that many seem to rely on is 100% worthless in determining when harvest is near, throw the calander away, there are way too many variable conditions in a grow to ever use day count to determine harvest windows.

You need to keep an eye on the trichomes, once they start turning a milky off white harvest is getting close, within a week to 2 weeks from when milky trichomes appear some will start turning a light honey color, once approx 50% of the trichome heads have turned honey or golden in color then you chop, this will give you the ultimate heavy couch lock knock out buzz,if you want a lighter buzz then harvest when only about 10% of the trtichomes are honey colored.

I grow a strain that is supposed to be able to be harvested in 44 days which is complete bullshit,i start my day count from when pistils first appear on a plant not from the 1st day i put them on 12/12 lighting, even with the more accurate day count ive never had any crop be ready in 44 days.

If you want your buds to be the hardest hitting smoke they can be you'll get a $30 microscope & harvest by trichome color, which on most indica dominate strains ive grown takes about 70 to 80 days from the first day of 12/12.

It's 42 after the transfer period I mean 54 days since 12/12 change

get one of these $12-15... look at your trichs....clear trichs head high....... cloudy body high.

Radio shack sells them too... http://www.radioshack.com/search/index.jsp?kwCatId=&kw=microscope&origkw=microscope&sr=1

After your hairs start turning red and the new pods stop growing....thats when you start looking;-)

^^^ not exactly.
Clear mean the trichomes are still immature, cloudy will give you a cerebrial high, and amber with give you that stoney couch lock feel. Also some strains never have color change in the pistals till after harvest so going off of pistals is not a good idea unless you have intimate knowledge of the perticuliar strain in question.
I would only use days as a way to count down to a 3-4week period prior to harvest as to start examining the tric's for changing from clear to cloudy to amber.

I start flushing when 50-75% of the tric's are cloudy/milky with 25-50% clear for a great head high, the flush period allows more of the clears to transition to cloudy before the harvest for an increase in potency.

When super quick to the finish plants come to mind the Afghani BullRider is #1 in my mind with a rough time line of 40 days from transition.

My bad...I just bought my scope from radio shack..I never looked at my trichs before today to see where the plant was...just knew when it was done

So its Clear the trichs are not ready

Cloudy you will get a head high

Amber you get the lazy couch high

50/50 is a combo high...........................thanks
