400watthps brighter than my 1000watthps? Help

I have the original bulb that came with my setup and it is a 400watt HPS, and i have been using it for a while. I just recently bought a new 1000 watt HPS and i put it in. My 400watt seems way brighter to the human eye and gives off ALOT of HEAT. My 1000watt is way bigger but it dose not give off that much heat and it is alot dimmer that the other bulb, not as bright. i no that the plants dont see the same things we see.

did yew just put the 1000 in the 400 watt socket?

turn the light off wait forr it to cool and take out the bulb and replace the 400w bulb never use a ballast with a bulb its not rated for.

ya. do i need to buy a different ballast that supports the 1000watt?

yes. GO to 1000bulbs.com and order a 1000w ballast. u have to wire it yourself and build it a box but its realy not that much work. and its under a 100 dollars

yea man you need a whole grow light for 1000watt,

400watt lamp is only for 400watt lighting systems,

yeah man never do that. u could of had an explosion man! only use bulbs that are rated for the ballast. you have to have the specific ballast for the specific light.
