400W Hydro Closet Grow

This is my closet grow I'm currently workin on it's my 2nd grow and seems to be comin along nicely. Well 3 of them anyway. I have 2 Sweet Diesel and 2 AK47 x Misty plant's in a DWC. The S.D. are in individual 5 gal. bucket's and the AK are together in a 13 gal. tub. They're all under a 400W MH and reflector 24/7 and a little over 2 week's old. Feel free to comment or question on anything. PICS: The first 2 are the Sweet Diesel, the next 2 are the AK as you can see one of the AK's is a little behind but I'm stickin with her. The last 2 are kinda hard to see but one of the Diesel's has some rust colored spot's and the leave's seem to be a little dry. Anyone know what causes that?

Well friends it's been 11 day's since the last pic's and the flowering is about to begin. These new pic's will be the last one's before they start 12/12 under a 400W HPS. I have no idea what they'll turn out to be as I grew them from seed but I'm prayin for female's. As you can see I've cut down to 3 plant's all are in their own 5 gal. bucket. About how long do you think before I'l be able to tell the sex?

tell me us more bout the bucket sys u got going. is it just air pump and stone, and a main net pot in each.? Or is it fed off a res? Looks like a clean lil setup! wut u expecting in that closet if say the 3 were girls under that 400?

Thanks guys. To answer you're question's my bucket's are just a simple pump & stone with 7" net pot's. I've found this way of growing to be the easiest for me cause all you have to do is fill up the bucket's, put in the nutes, and turn on the pump. Then the plant's pretty much do the rest. If the bud god's would be kind enough to bless me with 3 girl's I would be happy with about any amount. Just to get some gratification of growing my own, and knowing I don't have to buy any. But I'm hopin for 1-1.5 oz a plant. Sound reasonable? Also I can see little tiny calyx's started on the AK, but nothing on the Diesel yet. Today will be day 4 of flowering. Happy 4/20 everyone. i think u should be able to at least pull that yield. being the straings, and hyro grown , size of net pot , solid hps lamp...

im kinda curious 2 c this grow so scribed...i just built a bubble cloner ..dude roots in like 1 week...and i mean roots. rethinking the whole net pot tho, cause once they root their a bitch to pull out. but its gott me interested in pullin a dw grow in buckets like u. :joint:

Hell ya man it's crazy how fast and how much it root's in these thing's. I'll take a pic next time of their root's for ya. I just barely found out how to make my camera take a half decent picture without the HPS screwin it up. As far as the net pot's go they are hard to get the root's out of, but you don't really have to worry about it til harvest so you don't have to be gentle. The bucket's are really handy though especially when you have to change their water. Just get a couple extra bucket's and you can get the water/nutes ready outside of your grow then just pop the top and switch the plant to the new water. I'm still not sure on any of the sex's but they're lookin good. My AK is around 17" and both the Diesel's are around 12" I just changed their water yesterday and added the flowering nutes. For nutes I'm using the Fox Farm 3 Pack it's been ok. I'm goin outta town this weekend so I'm hopin to come back to good news. The pics are from last night the AK is lookin beautiful I like how she's nicely spaced unlike the Diesel which is just everywhere but whatever. I'd like to trim up the SD but I've already trimmed up some and I'm kinda scared of ruining anything. Thanks for checkin out my grow guys. What you growin there tilemaster?

Thanks man. I just made the bucket's myself it's pretty easy if you've got a sharp knife. I've seen some lid's that have net pot's built in on htgsupply, but I didn't wanna get anything shipped to my house. I just got back tonight from a little trip and the kid's are looking fantastic. They have sign's of sex but I'm still not sure enough to make a decision, so I'm just gonna wait to make the call. I tried to get a pic but my camera blow's and wouldn't take a clear picture. The AK grew like 5 in. it was close to 22in. One SD is 16in. and the other one is still 12in because the stem grew sideways when it was young trying to get more light. Anyways here's a pic. of all 3, and a pic. of one of the SD's root's .

Ok so last night when the light's came on I could clearly the see one of the SD was male, he had ball's all over him. I got him out right away and cut him down this morning. The first 2 pic's are of the male before the cut down. I am now down to 2 plant's one SD and one AK x Misty. The other SD is lookin female and the AK is still slowly comin around. Friday will be week 2 of flowering so hopefully they'll be fully showing their sex by then.

Well friend's I do believe the bud god's have blessed me. As I examined the plant's last night I could clearly see white hair's starting to pop up in the upper part's of the plant's. This was probably the best situation that could have happened since I have one AK47 x Misty and one Sweet Diesel so I get to try both. As Meat Loaf says, two outta three ain't baaaaad. Now all I need to do is not screw anything up. Is there anything really important I need to know so that I don't?

hey there nice girls! i have one question, im new and i was wondering how did you put them in the netted pots? Meaning were they small sprouts and you filled the pots with hydroton? im curious as how you did this because i want to try to grow one in a bucket as well. Thanks in advance!

To use the net pot's I just filled the bottom's about 1- 1.5in. with river rock's I got from the Depot garden section I've read to use clay pellets, but these worked just fine. Then I used 2 rockwool cubes just the small one's used for seeds/clones. Stacked them on top of each other so that the bottom one would still suck up water for the top, and filled the rest of the net pot with rock's to the top. It worked really well and I never had to worry about them not getting enough water. If you're thinkin about it I'd give it a try with the bucket/ air stone combo it make's it a lot easier.

I'm wanting to trim up the bottom's and leaves covering up bud spot's this wouldn't be a problem would it?

yes it would, you should only remove dead or dying growth. I would rather remove the bottommost buds than the leaves. Its the leaves that make the energy to make the buds, the calyxes do nothing with light, so keep the leaves. Leaves that don't get enough light will slowly drain their available nutrient content into the rest of the plant as they die naturally, so you want them to more naturally come off than to pick them off. I leave the leaves on until they are 40-50% damaged or dead.

nice grow going! how far up do you fill your buckets with water? and how often do you add? This looks pretty simple idea and will work out better for me in the end i am thinking.........you have one air pump or water pump to each bucket?
