400w grow - help please

5 red cherry berry plants under a 400w hps... 3rd week of flowering... got a 250w hps in storage.. Will it be worth putting the 250w hps in the grow cupboard aswell...?

• ran them veg in 24hour 250w hps... upgraded to a 400w and put that in when I turned to 12/12 and I topped them 1 week before flower​

I wouldn't add the extra light at this point if its only five plants. You might shock them with the extra light source which could herm them. 400w hps should be enough to flower 5 plants, although if u have the extra light, definitely use it on ur next grow!

if it was me I would go for it just watch those temps. how big are your plants? iv there even medium sized 1 400 isn't going to be enough. I'm running 2 400w right now for 7 plants

Hey man, stick the 250 in aswell them plants are tall for a 400w to penetrate!

Yeh I turned flower at 12'' but they trebled in size in the last 3 weeks...

Nice looking, yea i mean looks like a nice size harvest so for future reference on that size crop, definitely use the extra light, ull get a nicer harvest, but considering the situation i wouldnt risk stressing them, but nice job man, looking good!!!

Thanks Jordan! My second grow... I ran them veg in 24hour 250w hps... upgraded to a 400w and put that in when I turned to 12/12 and I topped them 1 week before flower... Only problem I cann see is cannopy penetration.. But just means I'll have to do a staggered harvest...?

ya that was my prob last grow light penetration, I just deleafed them, took off all the shade leaves that are just gonna die off in a couple weeks anyways, And then I had worthy buds about 3-4 ft down

I read mixed feelings about trimming off the fan leaves... will it stress out the plant if I trim the leaves??

no, and this comes from experience, and iv done it on fem and reg seeds. just don't go crazy cutting everything only the large shade leaves

So no huge benefit to add the 250w... Its not gonna penetrate much canopy?? prob just get in the way of the 400w light cos will be closer to the buds..... ?
