I've finally decided to go with a 400 watt hps system for flowering and keep reading good things about them but I've searched until my eyes hurt and just need to stop and a ask a few questions .. From growers with hid lighting as this will be my first

1. There is a system on htg that comes complete with the relector and bulb for 200 which seems like.a deal ..is it ?

2. The reflector that particular one come with is the HY wing reflector is this a reflector I can hook my duct and inline fan too ?

3. Is it better / cheaper or more expensive to buy the ballast, bulb and reflector separate?

I guess I just really need a good explanation on the reflectors vs aircooled vs tube cooled . And the differences in the different 400 watt ballast can someone please help sorry for the noobness I'm getting there very new to HID LIGHTING

1. No that's not a bad deal but check this out

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B004Y...SY200_QL40&dpPl=1&dpID=5185XGcOJ-L&ref=plSrch

It's only $129 plus free shipping.

2. No you can't aircool any "wing" reflectir although, you can put a fan on it as at type of wanna be air cooling. You should also check this out as well

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0054...SY165_QL70&dpPl=1&dpID=51cp2jQoGFL&ref=plSrch

$145 plus free shipping

3. So far it seems to be cheaper to buy it all together as a bundle. The advantages of buying it separately are that you can pick and choose each individual component to fit your exact needs. Again though, usaually more pricey.

And to answer your last question/s

There are 2 kinds of ballast, magnetic and digital. You can google both to learn more about them and figure out which is best for you.

Same for the reflectors.

It's kinda hard to suggest which one for you to get because I don't know your growing environment, closet, tent, or room?

Example if you're in a tent then I would say you should go with an air cooled reflector. Again regular air cooled vs cooltube is up to you.

Hope this answers all your questions. If you're eyes are hurting just researching the lights then you'll have a grand ol time when it comes to diagnosing plant problems lol

I went the most economical route...400w MH/HPS..gull wing reflector..digital ballast and timer Kit for $134 including shipping from Amazon...so far it's all working just fine .
