400 watt lights and new flower room

High

Im thinking of going a bit bigger with my flower room. I have access to 8 400 watt hps. These were installed in a high school gym and they went to 1000 instead of the 400s. I can get them for $20 each. I was considering 4-6.

What will i need to do if i want to install these 4-6 llights? Will i need to put in a seperate breaker and wire in new outlet and all that? I hope i wont but i think i will. Im no electrician and dont know 1. Besides i couldnt afford to hire one.

What do you think of these lights? A 400 hps ballest is a 400 hps ballest right??

Will i be able to seperate the ballest from the rest of the light. As these are one peice units? Is this pretty simple? I want to do this because i figure it be alot easier not having to hang all those heavy units.

What will be best configuration for 4 lights and/or 6 lights?

I got a spare bedroom. It is approx. 10ft x 10ft square, with a little 3foot x 6 foot extra by the door when u walk in. I was going to paint it flat white, although i do have some mylar to usem but not enough for the entire room. BTW it has 8 foot ceilings.

Anothe question on the lights. What can i do or use to make a cheap reflector for them all. Can i use like bamboo and mylar to make a reflector?

Im thinking of trying a small hydro set up for part of this room, but that is still in the air. I got more fish to fry right now getting the basic flower room set upp etc..

What number of plants can i do? Regular trees?

I did a sog b4 with 3 quart containers and pro mix. It was great. I think id like to go that route again if i stick with the soil. Well i really anticipate staying in soil for 1-2 more grows anyhow. What would be the configuration on this. How many plants? Id like to use the 3 quart pots again, as i have bout 100 of them. They are actually brand new, black ice cube buckets from a hotel. I bought them all at an auctiion or yard sale cant remember.

I know there are alot of questions and im all over the place. I just blazed a nice bowl of some purple urkle and im flyingbongsmilie

Im kind of a dumbass, and i really need some expert advice. Actually i need someone to hold my hand and teach me. Speak to me like im 5 so ill understand:wall: Maybe i smoke too much? IDK!! So what u all think? Questions, comments, complaints, answers???!!!

Thank you all very much
stay HIGH!!:bigjoint:

just for an example i run 2 400w mh 1 1500w heater that only runs once and awhile an old fridge and tv all off 1 breaker but if all are running and i turn on my 100w radio it trips the breaker. so i would say you could safely run 4 400w hps and all the fans and ventilation.

as far as reflectors go to home depot in the heating + A/C section and look at all the ducting peices there are a few different ducting parts that can make very nice reflectors.. in fact im goin next weekend to get somthing for my 400w mh in my flowering chamber...

All you have to do is find out how many amps your circuits are rated for. 3200 watts is about 29 amps right? I'm not positive but I think so.

3200(watts)/110(volts)=29.something amps

I'm pretty sure thats how you figure it out. I know I have enough power to pull that in my whole house if I needed but I think I'd blow a circuit if it was all in the same location. Sometime I can blow a circuit upstairs with the microwave if the heater and a lot of electronics are are on but the rest of the house will stay powered.

There's got to be somebody on here who knows about power and can give you a better idea of whether or not you have enough power.

LOL. I just saw you only need 4-6 lights. That would be about 15-22 amps I think. If that's the case, make sure your amps can handle a 30 amp draw since lights won't be the only things you're running.

Thanks people much appreciated. Can anyone answer any of my other questions?
Do u think its a good move buying those 400s at that price? $20 each is damn good deal i think. I got the room 4 them, and it not much cash to spend. Maybe i ought to buy them all? Hell i guess i could maybe make a buck or 2 off a couple lights to buy me some more growing stuff:) What do u all think for these lights in 1 flower room, SOG? or SCROG? TREES? Let me here your advice. Later
