I was on youtube looking them up, and there were videos showing 1000 watt HPS that were very loud. Are 400s just as loud or not at all?

Loud????.. i got a 400 watt HPS/MH makes no noise....

My fan is louder than my 430w....

The light itself won't make any noise, I think if you get a magnetic ballast I have heard that they can rattle but if you go with an electronic ballast there completely silent. Your fan is probably going to be louder and is going to cancel out any noise coming from your lighting system anyway.

i got a magnetic ballast.. dont make no noise... maybe what he heard on the youtube video was a High Velocity inline fan.. cuz they can be loud

Magnetic Ballasts make a hum especially after a year or so of use.

I have a 400 and it makes a little bit of noise but not much.

99% of all magnetic ballasts will buzz sooner or later, that is the one reason for getting digital ballasts. As far as louder, I would assume the 1000 watt ballasts would be louder due to the fact they are pulling more current. Is there a big difference between the 2 ? I don't think so, the 400 will buzz loud enough to get on my nerves just like the 1000. I use digital ballasts so I don't have to worry about it.

Thanks guys. My grow room is in a place where noise would be a defnate threat to its secrecy. Im getting a 400 of HTGS, just wanted to be sure.

Be sure to order another bulb with your HTGS purchase as their bulbs seem to fail within the first month.
