hey hey

i know is is a big debate and is very biased topic
but
ive been running a 400 watt hps for my first and second grow but the temps are just to hot, i cant vent out heat due to situation,

closet is only like 4x3 and was thinking a 4 foot 8 tube t5 would give me more coverage and better buds since i can not vent heat with the 400 watt

but i dont wanna grow shity popcorn buds so real question is

should i stick with the higher temps and the 400 watt
or
go with the 8 bulb t5 with no heat

all tips and pics of your own t5 grow would be much appreciated

* is there a club florescent or t5? thread?

( all this is referring to flowering stage not vegetative:-?

Be warned, t5 is far from no heat. The most significant difference is distribution.

Don't have any pics of my t5's. They produce less heat then my 250w HPS but they'll still turn a closet into an oven the same way.

hell yeah bro your not lying about that thats for sure. just a 4 bulb t5 will heat up a closet that small. they are better for vegging your allways going to get denser nugs with a hps than with a florescent

wow lol really? i did not know the the t5 put out alot of heat,

my 400 watt only seems to cover about 65 percent of my grow area

i just felt if i had the 4 foot 8 bulb t5 i could get more coverage and fill my area with more plants but i am
also a noob

probly will stick with my hps but i was thinking off selling it and gettting that 8bulb t5 fixture

Definitely use the t5 for veg for tight node spaces and fat leaves, a good veg sets up a good flower.

I haven't flowered with t5s, but if I were to flower with 'em I'd take a SoG approach, 4 plants per square foot and flower 'em when they reach about 6-9 inches. Not as much penetration with fluoros but distribution is much easier.

ya like i can only put like 3 under the 400 watt but if i had the 4ft t5 i could utilize all the space

just dont know what to do

im going to go see my buddys t5 grow soon so maybe that will help me decide

well i went to my buddys t5 grow
it had 3 8 bulb 4 foot fixtures in a smaller room and the heat was
not there*these are only pics of one of the t5s* lol i could touch the bulbs no heat coming of anything maybe some warmth but no heat

these pics are for all the t5 haters
he puts out about 1 pound of grade a quality bud with just t5s

hmmm...You say you dont have enough light coverage in a 3x4 closet using a 400w hps...What kind of reflector are you using? Because a decent air-cooled reflector just might be what you need.

If you dont have a good one, with air cooling, might i recommend the Sun System: Super Sun reflector kit...its got tempered glass, air cooled fittings for 4+6", and socket assembly included...

THose buds look very good, but the dried stuff doesnt look that dense.

All i know is that Fluros produce good veg, and HPS produce the best flowers...Dense, compact nodes, superior yield.

ya def not as dense but its danm good smoke

my reflector is pretty wack im not gonna lie lol

but if i got the Sun System: Super Sun reflector kit how many holes would i need to make and where? lol sorry if thats a dumb question just not sure how it works

and awesome hank avatar

per plant?

My wothless opinion would be stick with the hps and try to get the temps down, I was happier with the end result of my hps dense and healthy buds. I still keep the t5s for veg.

Switch bulbs in t5 to low spectrum and screen your girls. Even canopy, slam their asses with the t5. It's not the type of light per say thats the diff. But the light spectrum and intensity of the lights thats diff.
