400 watt HPS too hot for plants.

I have my grow room vented by a 240 cfm free air 6 inch duct fan (with charcoal filter) it still moves some good air. and the bulb is cooled by another 240 cfm duct fan. I think the problem is i cant move the light far enough away and my plants got to big because I let em veg too long. I didnt have my HPS until last week.

The only think I can think of doing is keeping them off to the sides of the light and not directly underneath because its only really hot right under the light.

What do you guys think I should do?
 
Your plant should double in height, if your out of space all ready tie them down they will grow sideways for the most part. A cooltube would also alow your tops to get closer to your hps.

If you have a magnetic ballast you could try a ceramic metal halide.

How does one tie them down? Just bend them sideways and tie them to somthing on the floor?
 
Search around for LST. Its called Low stress training. It's the best for limited height. What you have to do is train the main stalk of the plant to grow around the outside of the pot, then when you flower your shoots grow up and into the light. It's probably best that you start that with a new plant. That's a brief description, take a look on google or something. there's a really good picture somone made on paint that describes it pretty well.

Yeah i will if this all goes to pot, no pun intended lolz.

If they all end up getting to hot, im just gonna chop em down and make THC butter out of em if i can. if not one well. You live you learn.
