Ok my girls are 20 days into flowering and are lookin pretty good but i have been noticing latley the bottoms of all the plants have not been receiving alot of light and the leaves have been dying, so now what i did in addition to my 400 hps is add 4 cfls. i put all 4 towards the bottom of the plants.

what i want to know is, is this going to affect my girls in a bad way at all by adding cfls after going the 20 days with just hps?

It can't hurt. Leaves dying off the bottom like that is normal too though to some extent, it's just part of the plants aging process, take them off when all the green is gone.

I should have added that if you want to up your yield and get more light down into the plants you should tie the tops of the plants down so you can drop the light.

Your plants are a little tall for a 400w, and it would help to get it down and try to get them all closer to the light.

no need for those cfl's... especially for the bottom of the plant. i'd move the to the top or just get rid of them. I have tried it. just a waste of energy and its dries out the soil quicker...
