400 watt bulb help

I don't grow weed and i have no intrest in it.. but i am intrested in lights and i know this is a good forum for thing's about lighting so i was wondering

does it matter what socket i plug a 400watt bulb into..

cause my light has a 70watt in it at the moment

what do you think would happen if i replaced it with a 400watt? (big explosion? D

The ballast for the light needs to match the watts of the bulb. Chances are you would trash the bulb and the ballast. Explosion is a little extreme but a fire hazard for sure.

so should i get a electrician in to change it? how much do you reckon that'd cost D:

i think that sounds suspicious though "hey can you make this perfectly good light run 400watt for no aparent reason..

is there something else i can use.. some sort of light adapter plug.. D:

Theres only one way of sorting it and its the easiest, go out and get a ballast to match your bulb size, or buy a growlight with ballast and reflector, thats the safest way of running a 400w bulb im afraid . . . no cheap solutions available unless you're an electrical engineer . . .

I'm 52.. if i didn't start smoking weed as a teen why would i start growing now. My son recomended me this page (sort of worrying he knows of this site but none the less it is helpful)
