So on ebay there is a fan + speed controller combo for a 6" or 4" inline fan, for about $120. Both are the same price, but the 6" makes a lot more noise (69 dB vs 51dB). I know a fan controller can help reduce the noise, but since i have no experience with inline fans and they noise they make i was looking for some opinions.
The space being vented is 2Wx5Lx5H (if not a little smaller), with about 15-20 CFLS probably running. About 50/50 of 13 and 23 actual wattage for each. I will be using a carbon filter, probably a home made one.
Also stealth is important, so if the 6" is reduced to 4" capabilities with a speed controller, would the 6" be louder? I would imagine not, but please give some insight! Thanks!
