Alright, I have converted a bedroom to a flowering room. I will be running aeroponics, 3 - 6" pvc pipes with 5 sites per pipe except the middle pipe which will run 4 sites. So a total of 14 plants per light. The dimensions of the bed room are roughly 12x11x8 ft.The area I will be using will be roughly 8x11x8 ft. Now I had a problem last summer with heat so I obviously needed A/C. I also needed to change my grow room lay out, especially with the acquisition of two Raptor hoods. I have 3 - 1000 watt hps bulbs. 2 raptor hoods and 1 XL. I have a 6" 400cfm HO fan on the XL. For the raptors i'm using a HO 8" 800cfm fan. (I think it's an eco-plus?) So it might be over kill but it definitely works. I have a phresh filter rated for about 750 cfm and a maxfan fitted for it. My intake fan is only 250 cfm and it pulls air from the same closet as the lights. The closet is completely sealed off except for a vent cut into the wall. On the other side of the wall is a room with a window so this closet is filled via passive intake. I use a hepa filter in the vent in order to keep the fresh air as clean as possible. The lights also pull fresh air from this closet. So far, it works fine. Each Aeroponic unit will have a 40 gal reservoir. With air stones. They will all be controlled via a timer set to 1min on 5min off. (I've tried 24hr flows and they work well the only downside is they heat up the water.) I have co2 running and I have a total atmospheric controller. It works perfect to control the temp, humidity, and co2 ppm levels. (The only thing I did wrong was seal my room completely, AFTER building it. I did a good job sealing it up but it doesn't look as nice as it could have. But what matters most is functionality not cosmetics.) So a total of 42 aeroponically flowering plants on a 3 week perpetual harvest. Meaning 14 plants per harvest every 3 weeks, or roughly 1-2 lbs every 3 weeks (depending on strain and plant sizes).
I have also built two other rooms (out of panda film, duct tape and staples.) into separate parts of the laundry room. The smallest of the these veg huts as I call them is the mother hut. It's roughly 4x6x8 ft. It's lighted by one 4x6 T5 light. It has a 250 cfm intake with a passive exhaust. 6" ducting connects the two huts. The veg hut is roughly 5x10x8 ft. It's used to raise fresh clones and veg upcoming clones. This is for the perpetual cycle. The Veg hut has a single 1000 hps bulb. It's in a XL hood and is also on a light mover. It has a HO 400cfm in line fan that pulls passive air from inside my laundry room to cool the light and exhausting it outside. There is also a HO Can Fan with a filter constantly pulling hot air out of the room and exhausting properly outside. I have passive air intakes cut into the wall with hepa filters on them too. The veg unit will also run aeroponics (obviously). The veg unit has 4 6" pvc pipes with 5 sites per pipe. so 20 sites to veg. The reasoning for having at least 20 plants only to choose 14 means. You can at least account for stragglers, and only pick the best 14 plants for flowering. There might be cases of dying plants due to clogged sprayers too. Aeroponics is quite unforgiving yet generous at time of harvest.
Now I know I could grow more plants with this space using aero. however I prefer to grow larger plants and keep my counts lower. I'm not a commercial grower so I don't see the need for a 64 plant system per aero unit. Besides, instead of cramming plants too close together in budding. I've designed these aeroponics units to be precise. Each flowering sight has exactly 1sf of space to grow. This is to give them room to breathe. While allowing the plant to reach maximum yields.
I will be growing a different strains. Jack Flash, Jack Frost, and Master Kush are the only strains who's genetics are guaranteed. I also have Vanilla Kush, Pineapple Express, and Purple Diesel. I also planted a seed I found from some Jack Flash. It has huge indica type leaves so I think it's Jack Flash female X mystery Plant male, but its a female so I'll try her out first. All Mothers are in soil. I will be waiving the Vanilla Kush, P. Express and the P. Diesel via budding them out. I will no longer carry them until I can get guaranteed genetics. I have also ordered Afghan Kush seeds and Grand Daddy Purple Seeds. Hopefully they get here soon.
I will post pics and Video soon about my grow. I just wanted to set up the intro of how and what and why for this journal. I have been running aero for about more than two years now. I have failed and succeeded but have learned and grown from accomplishments and mistakes. I hope to learn more in order to become better and better. Please leave any questions or comments you might have I will be adding to this regularly.
