35th day flowering starting to plan ahead

So as I get closer I still have a few questions. I have read that you should flush 2 weeks before harvest. However I have also read that if you keep feeding and don't flush buds are bigger and that the harshness that you can get in the smoke is from improper curing not from skipping the flushing process.

Also if I decide to flush how can I tell when I'm 2 weeks away? I know watch the trichs but does that mean flush when they start to go amber?

i used to be a firm beleiver in flushing, then on my last crop i didnt flush at all, i used final phase for like a day then chopped, awesome taste, nitrogen is what makes weed taste bad cure it properly and you wont have a problem

Thanks for the input! I have some floral clean I was going to use for the second to last watering and then the last watering is going to be pure water.

I have been growing on and off for 10 years and have never flushed. I have never had anyone say that my weed tasted or smoked bad.... Its all in the curing i believe, this is what i recon and for what its worth.

Thanks guys that guys! I think I will keep on feeding my baby to get her buds nice a big right up till the end. :eyesmoke:

I'd advise a flush of at least 7 days... to remove salts and residual nutes.... the "extra" growth at this point is debatable, but it is ultimately your choice.. luck.

Nutrients do not totally go directly from the soil into the buds. Large fan leaves absorb moisture with nutrients and process them along with light and turn them into the chemicals the plant, including the buds, use. They not only make the needed chemicals they store them so when you flush you do of course stop feeding your plants but your plants will continue to feed themselves by living off the stored nutrients stored in the leaves.

It is not only the flushing of the soil but the using of the stored nutrients in the leaves that create a smoother/better tasting ‘smoke.’

Plants will basically ‘eat’ themselves and the leaves will be drained of nutrients and buds will continue to grow as long as there are nutrients in the plant itself to use regardless of the plants not being fed more nutrients. The slight difference in overall growth that might be seen is minimal and well worth exchanging for the quality of your herb.

What can and should be done that will more than make up for any minimal amount of growth loss is to keep your plants in total darkness for 72 hours before harvesting them. Research has shown that some strains will see an increase of as much as 30% in THC by giving them 72 hours of darkness before harvest.

The minimal amount of growth that might be lost is more than made up for with bud with higher levels of THC. You will smoke herb with more THC so you will smoke less of it each time and that will make it last longer than what tiny amount more growth you might get by not flushing and continuing to feed your plants right up until harvest.

Now it could be argued that doing both, feeding right up until harvest and also giving them 72 hours of darkness will give you both a higher yield and higher levels of THC but regardless of how you dry and cure you will still not get as high quality of herb.

You may end up with slightly more, very slightly more, but it comes down to what your priorities are. Is giving up taste and smoothness worth a gram or three or whatever more per plant in exchange for harsh smoke that does not taste as good as it could?
