Off-topic as usual;
Yeah i do understand where your coming from, also satisfaction of making it yourself, but I'm lazy.
imho your in the wrong hobby then........
Twat, wasn't talking to you gay boy, was to the guy asking.
I'm not gay, and you just implied those that are gay are stupid.
I don't think laziness is a bad thing. In fact, laziness can drive innovation, strangely enough. What a paradox, right? Ask any computer programmer, many of the improvements to a system come from automating or simplifying as many things as possible, to avoid the duplication of effort (automation), and limit technical debt (simplification). I think you have to have a little hubris

That said, the name-calling, especially homo-hating name calling is pretty lame, and you should probably be set on fire for it, Nice1Son. But I'm not here to judge you, I'll let the rest of the internet do that, they seem to be experts.

looks like $749 will be the intro price. Quick math on the parts: 6 cx()3070 @40ea = $240 + $140 for 2 MW drivers + $110 for (2) 24" 5.886 heatsink profiles and say another $100 for fans, ac/dc adapter, wiring, cob holders, paste, hanging hardware, etc Total $590 That estimate might be on the lean side as top bins are often more than $40 when buying only 6. Then there is shipping and labor to build the thing. I dont know GG or have any affiliation with him other than reading his posts and thread. I intend to buy one of these fixtures when they come out, hang it in the garden and report on its performance without bias.
The CX300 will undoubtedly outperform most lighting units currently available today and the cost seems very reasonable, even when considering that the parts are slightly cheaper when bought in bulk and that assembly isn't extremely labor intensive. While I don't always get along with GG on the social side, I believe he's doing justice for growers with his new business.

I thought you were a DIY kind of guy, Growmau5? Didn't you duplicate the BML Sypder earlier this year, only to welcome fantastic results?? I do know that DIY work can sometimes be time consuming.

Oh, I definitely am a DIY guy. I just helped build two (30) x xml2 "low pwr draw" veg lights with a buddy of mine & a 9 cxa3070 light. He wants help building 4 more (9)cxa3070 lights to replace all his HPS. Then I have my projects: a 20xml2 light for my nursery, and a 20 cxa2530 light for veg. I just have so many projects going atm.

Meanwhile I have a 10 pk of Exotic Genetix Cherry Cream Pie (Cherry Pie x Cookies n Cream ) burning a hole in my pocket. A PLC light would be perfect right now, I can click a button and have it show up at my doorstep. This will be just what I need after tapping that many holes with a #4-40 tap.(cheeks clenched hoping it doesnt break)

Tying this all back in with the title of the thread: based on supraSPL's thread that I originally found a year ago, I clicked his link to the u2-4c Bin XML2 4500K @ fasttech. and started implementing them in veg. I was always one of those people rooting clones in 12-14 days, looking with great skepticism at grower's reports of rooted clones in 5-7 days. With these XML2s, i am now reliably and consistent rooting clones in 6-7 days.

so, @djweed420 if you want to tackle a simple cheap led project while you are making a decision on your cobs. slap some xml2s from Fastech on a bar and put it in your veg room. This will give you some "low stakes" training on the basic fundamentals of DIY leds.

actually bill gates said that he likes to hire the laziest person, because they will find the most efficient way to do the job.......

i know the paradox, but its an urban myth in farming or gardening...when was the last time you heard about the happy farmer? The farmer's lament is Not paradoxical....its motherfucking hardwork, even the basic shit....

edit....I know how to farm and how to program....programming is not farming, its like saying that gold and food have the same value...but you can't shit gold....

I have been both a farmer and a software design engineer (at some no name company in the PNW), and I can safely conclude that "most successful smart people" appear lazy, regardless of their training or vocation, cause they are always thinking up methods that are faster, take less work or are more efficient. The contradiction is that in reality their brain is not lazy, but hyperactive.

Were the #4-40 holes blind or open? Yeah, tapping by hand is probably my least favorite part of building Model-Vs.

I don't know when GG is opening the gates to his new product, and I don't know if you even know about the Model-Vs, or whether you like or dislike them, but I do have an assembled Model-V10 up for sale on the Shop, which is comparable to the CX300. I'll also have a few limited edition models available tomorrow.

Here's a link to the V10:

PM me anytime if you find yourself interested and/or have questions.

Sorry to Derail the thread....I missed the "hubris" part :leaf:

I still like the pure raw power of 3K...3500k is.....Im on the fence...I think it is a good spectrum for all around......used to average .7 grams a watt/ 110 watts over 3.5 sq ft...with 300-350ppfd and used a mix of 5k and 2700k....my favorite...but going to a higher photon output made me go with 3k currently.....and curiosity of course...one spectrum no mixing what are the results?

I lean heavily towards Overall Photon Output.......Efficiency 2nd[or 1A]....Spectrum 3rd....:peace:

Hey guys would u recommend 2700k by itself for flower and 5000k for veg or would a mixture of the 2 be of benifit for a flower and veg room ?

Well the guys who do CFL grows use 6500k for veg and 2700k for flower but some say 2700k is fine for both. Not sure if the same applies for COB.

I would ask a couple question before rec a temp! Are u using reflectors or lenses? freeair? I would say Vero 3500K freeair or 4000K w/reflector/lense would be best performing allround temp! I personally like the 3000K with 90degree lenses for flower! Seems to stretchem and open sites up.

what difference does a reflector, lens or nekkid make for the temp color ?

I would like to see the results from a full cycle with 2700k and lenses on. Your temp will be around 2300-2400. way too much red for me but I use 6500K. Nothing less than 4000K for the cycle is would I rec.
