i'd go with 600ws , 1k are badass ligts but i dont need extra light penetration or heat in my grows 
..its all about preparation (SCrOG) under 600ws , hehe

i would say the 600's as there is a higher lumen to watt ratio
however you could get away with 2x600w in that area.
A single 600w is good for a 4x4 floor area
2 are good for 8x4 .
Roughly 3ft of usable penetration.
I love my 600w lumatek dimmable with sun systems blockbuster hood.

Three 600s will produce the same amount of light as two 1000s and is cheaper and more efficient. Page 223 of Ed Rosenthals Marijuana Growers Handbook.

i say go with 2- 600s and put them on 4 foot light movers. my 6x6x7 loves it.
