2nd try...good system, mistake with lights

My first Stealth hydro grow this year went really well until I noticed that 2 of 3 plants wouldn't flower. As it turned out, I learned from a dude in a hydro shop that I screwed up when I went to 12/12. I used the 3 CFL bulbs that came in the kit plus a 250 watt HPS. The plants stretched too much toward the HPS which was mounted high. This time, I'm growing 4 clones and 2 AK-48 from seed. I'll probably separate them and move 2 each into 5 gallon buckets. I don't know if I'll have enough air flow yet. I'm using only the CFL's for 3-4 weeks then switch to 12/12 and monitor the distance to the HPS more carefully. I'm embarrassed by the rookie mistake but that's life and I'm ready to move on to the next crop. Using nutes from the kit with distilled water. Roots are just starting to creep through the net pots.
I guess I'm looking for a pep talk and constructive advice.
best,

Yeah, supposedly. But if you do some research, some folks grow it using the conventional method. I'm kinda baked right now and finding it difficult to type. I'll check back later...trippin on some home grown AK bud. Peace out.

The guys that are switching light cycles on the autos are having problems with them flowering.
