Long time reader, first time poster here.

A little background info

This is my 3rd attempt to grow in 15 yrs. I started (a long time ago) with a florescent tubes/drip system that died during a ice storm power outage. My 2nd attempt started in college with me purchasing a MH lamp. Didn't have enough to purchase a Sodium, so I flowered with MH. You could imagine the results :)

On this attempt, I'm have created a SOG technique using a flowering and vegetative grow closet. It is in a semi-finished basement (concrete), with vegetative at the bottom, and flowering at the top. I live in the mountains, and am using well water (150 ppm).

Vegetative room:

NFT using 4" PVC
Bubbler for clones attached to reservoir tank
6 x 23w CFL
PC fan for exhaust
1 USB circulating fan

Flowering room (limited vertical space):

Shallow Water Culture / NFT using
3 large buckets + 4 smaller buckets
Air stone in each bucket
288 W LED reflector Mars-Hydro on full spectrum
PC fan for exhaust
2 USB circulating fans
Heater inside room.

So I started this project almost 1 year ago. I received seeds from a batch of very good bud. I was surprised at the quality, so I decided to plant them. Planted 3 in soil. all 3 sprouted, but 1 died due to my laziness!

I continually took clones off of them, flowered them outside and was still impressed with the quality, when I didn't put any love into them. So, I decided to put some work into it, and see what I get.

Right now, I am in week 3 of flowering. I did the usual noob thing of over fertilizing in the first week and half. This stunted growth, so to me they look like they are in week 2 flowering. Things are going nicely now, but I have a few more plans for this grow.

I'm running the system at 400 ppm now. It seems very low to me. I'm hoping that increasing the grow room temp (currently at 22 C), it will increase nutrient uptake.

My main problem right now is automation. Because all my equipment is not regulated through a thermometer, I'm guessing there is a lot of fluctuation between the time I check things. My plan for the rest of this grow is to implement a automation/controller system. I will be using yieldbuddy that uses arduino and rasberry pi. I seem to see a lot of growers wanting to do this, but not many with a finished product.
