250w vertical or horizontal?

Hey guys im on my 2nd grow and its just finishing up. Unfortunatly i can't fit as many plants as i would like under my 250w hps and still have them be productive. My idea for my next grow is to suspend the light vertically maybe 2 or 3 feet above the ground. Then i can put plants in a circle around the light probably at least doubling my yield im thinking because i can fit more plants and they will all still be equally close to the bulb. Also i would put a small fan below the bulb aiming striaght up. Right now 5oz. would be a good yiled for me but i think if i did vertical i could blow that away... what do u guys think?
 
Aesome idea, what inspired that idea?? Thats what im going to do my next grow, soround that bulb with bud man!! You should post your thread, if you make one, on my 'how to grow with 150w' thread, for sure.
 
your thread "how to grow with a 150w" inspired me! haha im thinkin i could easily fit 4 nice sized plants, i would do more but me and my buddy want to keep the # of plants low so im gonna flower at maybe 12 inches and have a plant in each corner.. im gonna be doing alot of lst also to keep my plants low and around the light
 
haha, nice, yup, isnt this verticle idea just amazing? You can go huge while going small, in away, Same exact idea i have, like SOG/LST
 
HOMEGROWNBOY: How many plants? You should be getting 2oz dry weight per plant.

Do you think i could get 2oz per plant if i go vertical? Cause i could probably fit 6 plants easily around the light... i could get a yield over 10oz with a 250w hps?
 
Upinchronic1: So what do u think is the best/easiest way to lst. Should i use a cage or would it still yield really well if i just put the plants around the light and maybe tie down a plant here and there where its needed
 
Depends how much time you want to put into veggin, The guy who did the 'cylo scrog' Probabl spent a couple months in vegin. What im going to do is grow them to about 6 inches and then 12/12. I dont see any huge payoffs in doing a scrog, personaly, why not just sog it? Same idea of getting as much bud around the light and plus your cutting a ton of time in Veg. Catch my drift? Yeah just tie em down so every inch of open space around the light is BUD

Not a 250W but a 400W. I always get more then 2oz dried weight per plant, and i use a 400W HPS. The verticle idea is great for helping to increase your yield...BUT...your yield very much depends on how long you veg for. force flowering a plant is something i have NEVER done, wait till preflower stage, yo'll get about 25% more yield that way, and the bud will be better.

If height is an issue for you, top the plants, or LST them, you'll get even more yield that way.
