250w CFL Vs. Seedlings

Is a 250w CFL going to be too much light/heat for starting seedlings?

If anyone could let me know that would be great =]

no its not, just keep them 1-2 inches away use your hand to test, the more watt and lumens the better add a fan for stronger stems and to reduce heat.
 
A 250-watt does not put off that much heat but 1 to 2 inches is a tad bit close especially for seedlings. 1 inch to 2 inches doesn't even give someone room to do the hand test since their hand would pretty much have to be touching the bulb so it would be pretty obvious it would be to hot.

I would put the light about 6 inches above seedlings, maybe as much as 7 inches or 8 inches, with a fan blowing on the seedlings and light, and when the plants grew to about 3 inches to 4 inches from the light then pretty much maintain that distance from then on.
