24k BtU mini not enough or something else?

Would refrigerant oil somehow end up in the water coming out of the indoor unit. Cause til my condensate pump gets here I've just been running into five gallon bucket. I've noticed the water seems weird almost like mixed with something oily. Figured it was like residue in the bucket or in the hose that I bought to drain water to the bucket. But could that be refrigerant oil or whatever u said to look for.

If the oil is leaking out of the evaporator coil it would definitely end up in the condensate h2o.

So woke up and checked unit and while temps were still in range the unit was frozen pretty solid and temps were climbing. I have dimmed back down til I figure out when this guy can get here and see what's leaking charge. If it was leaking from evapoorstor coil that seems like a much bigger problem than a flair fitting?

Much, Much bigger. Probably have to replace the head unit under warranty in that case. I doubt they would wanna have to braze in a new one.

Yeah that's what I'm thinking I can see a residue of oil in the condensate line. So yeah this gonna be a bitch hopefully the warranty process is easy and my guy comes thru. For now between 600_750 on lights and exhaust fan is cooling it so far. Im glad only on second week of flower but need this problem fixed asap. Thinking of lowering the lights some if can keep temps in check

Man that sucks ass. I hope things work out. Sucks for you and your installer, they have to do all the extra work. People wonder why installs are costly, they have to factor in shit like this lol.

I got the buddy price on labor, (equipment and wiring put me over budget) and he drives kinda far I'll take care of him when he comes. Want to make sure to treat him right as it's hard to find someone that can come in and do this kinda sensitive work and I need to make sure he will always wanna come back.

Okay so I took the drain line off and ran finger in it and it wasn't oily just a lil dirt. I had cover off and made it easier to get to flare fittings and the big line is covered in oil like my hand was shiney. So hopefully that's what it is and will be an easier fix. Just hope don't have to mess up light schedule to do it.

Yeah sounds like a leak at the fitting. Thats easy, he can cut, reflare and torque. Then pressure test with nitrogen, pull a vacuum and weigh in a new charge.

It would be rare for a evap coil to leak since they pressure test them at the factory. So this sounds more like a normal mini split issue. The biggest issue with them is those flare fittings.

Yes I wish they wouldn't void the warranty for brazing and also were set up for it on outside unit would see a lot less issues with installs cause that's what most HVAC guys are used to doing

Yeah I have cut the flares of of units before to braze them, but some of them are made in a manner that prevents that due to the charge release valve being incorporated into the flare fitting on the outside unit usually in a cast brass piece.

Yes my outside unit is like that I'm wondering if we shouldn't just braze the inside line sets it's not like I can have just any body in there doing warranty work it's gonna be one of two guys and they both mentioned brazing being better but since outside unit was set up for flares we just flared it.

Was the small flare fitting. It was just not tight enough. So we fixed that then nitrogen checked the lines. Pulled vacuum and filled it back up with refrigerant. My original ac guy was pretty busy so i had to call and old friend. Called him at 630 this morning and even though he had a considerable trip he was here pretty early and on top of it. Was nice to get to cacth up with the guy and felt much better because now I know whenever I need someone I can put in a call to him and he will drop what he doing to come help. Also very mininmal light leaks for a project of this undertaking in dark period. Had a couple green bulbs set up and turned on a cell phone flasight for maybe 30 seconds total.

Sounds like a good guy to keep on call. Maybe he likes weed and wants a little. lol

Yeah he and I go way back and he was def happy when he was done. I for sure love the hustle can't find that kinda service anywhere even bumped another job a day to come to me on a few hours notice.

It's all who you know. I had a guy back in missouri that was always good for any kind of heavy labor. He just wanted to be paid in weed and he would bust his ass. guy was strong as an ox. Saw him literally pick up a full refrigerator like it was a defensive lineman and toss it off a porch about 10 feet before it flipped over, fortunately I had it ratchet strapped shut as it was full of spoiled food from previous tenants. lol
