24/0 from indoor to outdoor?

Howdy..

I am in South Eastern Ky and I have some plants from seed indoor that are under 24/0 lighting that I was originally planning to flower in my perpetual indoor grow, but decided to throw outdoor instead as I got a later start than usual on planting seeds this year.

For 16 years now I have always started them indoors under 24/0 for the first 2 weeks then to either 18/6 or 15/9 till time to throw them out. Now I know clones must be acclimated to the light schedule very carefully and not be planted outside usually till around the 10th of June. But these are from seed, not clones.

I have around 12 large plants that are definitely mature as they are 3 and a half months into veg, then I have around 40 that are 2 months into veg. So being already mature and under 24/0 lighting they're entire lives, are they safe to go ahead and throw outside (after a little hardening off with a little shade of course)? Or will they start to flower and then reveg?

Seems like I have thrown some outside after sitting in 24/0 lighting in the past, matter of fact I know I have a few times with no flowering issues, however they were no where near this far into veg. 3 weeks at the most.

Whatcha think???

Just put them outside. People that say you have to match the light schedule are WAY over thinking it. I grow mine indoors under 24/0 and when it's time I just plant them out. Never had an issue as long as it is the right time of the year, which it is now.

I've never gone 24/0, but have always heard you need to gradually cut them back if you do. I'm guessing at least some of them would early flower.

I talked with Duke Diamond earlier today and he recommends that I start turning the lights out about an hour per day until I get to a 16/8 schedule. I am going to take that route, so looks like im gonna be holding these indoor for a week or so more. I can see where he is coming from, that instant shock from 24/0 straight to outside is very likely to cause a trigger in flowering.

This give me more time to keep digging holes and amending the ground.

Speaking of which, I just had finished mixing and amending my 5 holes today when a pretty wicked thunderstorm rolled up on me and my pooch... We tried to throw some contractor trash bags over top of us and got under a thick briar/cedar thicket. Worked great for a minute and then decided it wasn't gonna lighten up anytime soon. Then not even 60 ft or so away BAM! Jolt of lightining struck a tree and it put the fear of God in both of us. He tucked his tail and we both took off in a run and I hopped on the atv and he followed me home. Yep, we almost got fried, literally, and not the good kinda fried either
lol...

To beat it all, the moment we pulled into the drive way the 4 wheeler died and when I turned it back over the engine sorta made a clucking sound, may be the starter, idk yet... but without that ATV i'm outta business till its running again. Good time to transplant I guess and take advantage of the Storm... also its getting those holes watered in and water polymers charged
haha...

I'm also gonna have to be changing my light schedule for cuttings anyways..about time I start rooting them and have em ready to be out by June 13th or so.

Wow...why so late? Just out of curiosity?
Clones normally should not be put out till after the first week of June. I can grow on into November if we have good years... last year I ran a few even to the 20th of November.

Generally, if you put clones out before June they will go straight to flower and you will basically just fuck up a good plant and waste valuable time.

Hmmm...interesting that I have never read that.
I've only planted 2 clones before and planted them with the rest mid may. They did not flower. I know other outdoor growers in the forum that plant in usual time without problems. Hmmm...I will have to look this up.

A lot of it is strain dependent, but generally folks do not plant clones out till June onwards...

You got lucky, I have got lucky too doing that in the past. However 80% of the time I put ANY clone out before June, regardless of the strain, the usually always flower.
