21 days old & stinks like crazy--what works to get rid of smell?

Stealth grow in jeopardy of discovery--HELP! My babies are only 3 weeks old but have already developed a strong case of skunk breath. I have a fish tank air pump that I use to exhaust my 22"X5'X8' "closet" grow area that I can't even let the wife know about. I actually built an entire addition (workshop) specifically to build a hidden grow room. I drilled a 2" hole in the floor to bring in cooler fresh air from crawl space. I have it on 6 hours a day but my kids are still smelling skunky. The seeds were from good seedbag green-bud. The odor is actually pretty good to me, but others won't be so pleased. What can I do to remove the odor quietly. I've been told to get something that comes in a tub that you just open the container and it does the work for you. Any input?:blsmoke:

air freshener, ozone generator or carbon granule filter - more expensive but by far the best is the filter.

Lets face it, it is the smell that usually gives the game away and gets you busted - in the long run it is worth the outlay.

Yeah, you're right, the smell is always a killer---good or bad. What is the approximate cost of a carbon filter I would need for the size of my grow room?

As for the tub that you open up and it does the work for you, I saw one of those in a thread on rollitup. The thread was about a guy in Huston Texas getting caught, and it had pictures, and within the pictures it showed the tub you speak of. Ill see if I can find the thread and then ill post the picture.

There are plans in the DYI sub-forum for cheap DYI carbon filters, do a search.

Thanks jimmyspaz, I found what you were talking about. But it took a little time. I was searching for "DYI" and came up with nothing. Then I thought that you might mean "Do It Yourself--DIY" and I found the info, so thanks again. I noticed you found all my posts on the subject--good work...lol.

Thanks jackinthebox, I look forward to your re-post w/pic of "the tub".

i too would like to see this TUB. is it possible that its just a big ONA block? also look at walmart in the pet section near the kitty litter. they have odor absorbing blocks that are like $3 a piece. i have been using 2-3 of them in my basement and just makes the air smell fresh, doesn't add any scents. they only last about a month but hell like you guys said, well worth it.

oh and to note. i also have a carbon filter but some smell still gets thru it. i would recommend getting/making a carbon filter and also getting some smell absorbers.

your a stoner you should be able to get rid of smells
hahaha just kidding
try inscents
or candles
open windows

I just ran across something on-line called "airsponge". Has anyone else heard of it? It sounds like what you were talking about with the "ona" block, whatapothead. It said to just put it by the odor causer and it will eliminate it, not just add perfumes to the air.

As always, thank you all for the great input. This has got to be the best forum site on the net. I don't see very much personal abuse from those looking for an argument. bongsmilie:bigjoint::weed::joint: To quote Homer, "Mmmmm, Pot." Or was that supposed to be beer...lol.

Your babys are only 3 weeks old and wait till you throw them into a flowing stage. The smell is going to get 3x as bad(really). I dont mean to rain on your parade but there is going to be no way to hide the smell 100%. Sorry dude I know that is not what you wanted to hear. But what the hell do I know I have never grown before.

Thanks for input sweetsmell. I figured that the smell would be strong in flowering stage and that hopefully I would have something in place by that time to contend with the odor. The wife:hump: still smokes cigarettes so hopefully her sense of smell isn't as good as mine (German schnoze is BIGGGGG:mrgreen:). I'm going to my hydro store today to see if they have any of that "Ona" stuff, or "airsponge" or the like. After I try it, I'll give all a report on effectiveness.:blsmoke: Thanks again all for the great info.bongsmilie

carbon filter and extractor fans has got to be the best solution + best way to get good circulation. (im not sure a fish pump wud move anywhere near enough air) although for them to work the grow space has to be quite well sealed ie the fans trying to expell more air than the volume of air that is allowed into the space. and they do make a bit of noise. silenced ducting and a silencer on the fans exhaust helps alot, also using a bigger carbon filter than the correct one for the size of ducting makes them quieter, ie using a 6" filter and a reducer into 5" ducting. doing this ive managed to reduce the noise of mine to something simular to the sound of a pc.

im growing 10. in a completly sealed 2mtr squared cabinet, sealed apart from the 10 1" diameter holes in the side that draw fresh air in. with a huge 1.5 foot diameter carbon filter (6" duct) and up to now havent been able to smell anything what so ever unless i open the cabinet.

either that or a powerful ozone generator but they give off that distinctive fresh ozone smell, which your wife may question.
one other idea, not sure i believe it works but you can get this new odour eating emulsion paint for kitchens. if any1 knows anything about this id like to hear it, may be worth a try.

Thanks TribalTrig, that last idea of the paint is right up my alley of what I want to do..."simple for the stupid:dunce: & lazy:sleep:"--LOL:lol:. And probably not too expensive I would think for the small area I have built. If the simple doesn't work (like the absorbers), I will have to go the with the filter, vent or whatever route to the no-smell I'm after:wink:. This should be a good thread for anyone with a stealth garden they want to keep hidden.:peace::joint::bigjoint:

Here is the trick...BUY INCENSE! If you can get your hands on a variety pack just light one of the sticks then blow the flame out so it will create a nice odor and you will not know the smell of weed.

dude, get a negatine ion generator, i have heard great thins about them first hand... idk how they work and price but heard good things... i am gonna check it out at some point as wekk
