But if you are serious about your herb and believe it is superb 28 grams and $150 is well worth the publicity (if you win) for a collective, dispensary or propecting grower!
Any event related to MMJ is good in it's part to the whole!!
If you are against it you are surely on the wrong side of the line!!

I heard through the grapevine this was an attempt to stock meds for a Dispensary Bill Hayes is supposed to be growing for. So he has time to get up and learn how to grow before they figure out the hired a guy who is good with Cannabis but that doesn't mean he has actually ever completed a grow. Which I hear he has NOT.

How many judges are attending with $500 judging passes. Does every judge get a 3.5 sample to burn/test or are there 28 judges at 500 a pop, 14k, lol.
To clarify, By random occurance I met the group/guy who actually is heading/funding the event and needless to say they didn't like when the words BH's cup came out of my mouth. Didn't seem like they were found of this frontman. Just FYI to those interested in entering..
Just like LA recently, a secret cup is supposedly in the works here in AZ. Don't know any details but that is the word going around..

AZ Growers Cup is seeming like amateur hour right now. This website STILL shows 2 different required flower/concentrate amounts. I couldn't find where it says the price is $150 to enter.

It takes time and money to organize these events, not to mention a bit of risk for an MMJ event that draws even more scrutiny.
I don't think it's totally unreasonable. Do you know how many people would be showing up with shitty bud to be judged if it was free entry? At least this weeds out some of that stuff.

I checked the festival out for a bit on Sunday. There was little professionalism and even less organization. People were openly selling bud and edibles in their rooms/booths. Lots of gangster this and that, there was a fight in the parking lot between a homeless guy and a drunk guy; the better booths were the crappy smoke shops that sell bad glass and T-shirts, so that was lame. Not sure what I was expecting, but I was hoping for something akin to the Denver Cannabis Cup that I checked out last year (way too high of hopes!). I don't mind a few rough edges, but it mostly seemed seedy and unstable. As I was only there for an hour, maybe I missed the good part.
I left with the feeling that anyone making connections there was going to be regretting it. I am guessing I'll get a better vibe and have a better time at the farmers markets.
I didn't stick around to find out about the winners, but I would also like to know! Anyone from here get in on the action?

Looking forward to hearing about everyone's experience, hopefully all enjoyed it more than I did.

I too felt the same way. Not sure what I was going to expect. But the lack of organization and the uncomfortable feeling of walking through the hallways to go into secret room To check out meds. Mostly stuff from cali and Oregon. I even found that people were open to share that.
I only found one room with the acual grower there and no out of state meds. Actually they had the feelings as me and were against it. (My kind of people!)
Truely the only reason I was there was to network and talk to the "Dispensary" and see about these "jobs" Holy shit I was let down. It ended up being the same people at Farmers Markets with the addition to a few clubs. Had business card/sample meds to share. Guess i'll be sticking to finding paitents outside the Zones.
Overall, it was a great idea with poor execution. I appreciate the attempt and hopefully forward movement this will provide for our local community.

Cannabis Spot Vapor Lounge, on Facebook, looks to have results on their page. Shows 12 flower entries, and 2 wax entries.

One part to the whole...
Asked many folks about the Cup and it was obvious not one person knew WTF I was talking about.! Way too many cops in suit and out of suit! Makes me wonder!
A gent stood near where we were hanging out for close to 3 hours as if we did not see him eavesdropping! Love the Police! Too many under covers!
I prefer being paraniod since all contacts with the police usually end in a 6 x 8 room!
Though it was not what I was hoping for I seen many folks having a good ol' time and spreading the love of the Herb! And thats what really matters!

I went on 4/20 and although I tried to stay away from the rooms that were all businesses, I couldnt help but walk up and down the hallway and be thankful someone was actually putting something like this together so that people could network.
After a brief walk through the hallway and seeing a swat looking officer patrolling I headed back out to the stages where there were awesome performers performing.
I later learned the off duty officers were highered as staff. I never heard of any fighting in the parking lot, there were officers/staff in the parking lot the entire time I was there so im doubtful there could have been much fighting in it, other then arguments.
Over all I thought it was alot of fun and there were a ton of people there. I cannot wait till the next event.
P.S. AZ kush won the cup
