2009 In-Out grow Reloaded (Gen2)

It's time to reload the greenhouse with the next Generation.

But before I do I have a little re-work to do on the old RIU Greenhouse.

It appears the Hot California Summer has taken a toll.

Everywhere the plastic roof touched the dark brown poles the plastic got brittle from the heat.

I knew that the poles got real hot, I just didn't appreciate how Hot! They cooked the plastic!

So I have to insulate the poles & re-roof.

I cut 2" strips of Styrofoam insulation & covered the poles.

New plastic tomorrow. And then plants!

Here's some pic's.

Peace
jj

Well it's a good feeling to have a new roof & new Gen of plants in the RIU greenhouse. I've added plastic ends (with RIU feature) for the winter.

Here's some pic's.

I'm all excited (it's Spring time all over again), let's get growing!

These will be frosty Christmas Trees come Dec!:blsmoke:
Peace

P.S. And Gen3 growing in the wings!;)

hey jj, i had the same problem with my plastic. i bought 6mil 100x20 ft roll from lowes. turns out my plastic became brittle where my pvc hoops touch it.

i assumed my breakdown was from wind rubbing the plastic against the hoops, this may be part culprit as well. just the sheer vibration, or slight rubbing, could break down the plastic sheeting.

i really thought about it, and came up with this conclusion. the plastic was manufactured without a uv barrier(uv is the terrible invisible thing that damages things like skin, plastic, eyes, and etc. it would make sense that the metal gets hot, hence it breaking down there. In reality, what is happening, is the uv rays go through the plastic, hit the metal and are reflected through it a second time. double dose! also, there is tension where the poles are.

i recovered my hoops, and had some plastic on the ends mounted vertically, that i didn't replace. this stuff was stretched tight, and could not move. after time those panels became brittle as well, and tore. hence the uv dilemna.

solutioN: BUY UV STABILIZED PLASTIC, OR JUST KEEP COVERING IT EVRY FEW MONTHS. I HAVE RECOVERED 4 TIMES, AND HAVE ENOUGH FOR ONE MORE TIME.
you are doing very well, thanks for the link on your other thread, i'm scribed to this mother.:joint:bongsmilie

Here's an update from the greenhouse. The 4 Jam/Haw hybred's are the tall ones in the back. They have been out there for 3 weeks & are showing flowers. The 8 Kush, only 1 week.

Thanks for the information Capt. The plastic is sure cheep enough & I'm getting pretty good at changing it. I hope this gets me through the winter & I'll re-cover in the spring.

Peace
jj
The first picture was taken just as the last of the 'Hurricane' went thru. Look closely it's a double rainbow over the RIU greenhouse.

Thank you Hodge, it would be much appreciated to hear your comments. They really LOVE the MaxSea!

I should report that I've switched to MaxSea after seeing Hodgegrown's plants. Wow, are they loving it. Thanks Hodge!:blsmoke:

P.S. Gen3 (inside) got 'topped' last weekend, we now have Gen4! Because of plant numbers limit, Gen4 has been moved to another location.

Dude your plants are nice..What size pots are you using? When did you take them out to flowering outdoors how big were they?
Feeding any nutes?

Thanks, those are 15gal pots & the plants are 3.5'-5.0' tall. As you can see I run a 3 part grow op. The first 4 months they never see the Sun. The last 2 months they bask & flower in all the natural Sun's glory.

Right now I have 3 complete sets of plants going.

1 set is 2" tall (clones)(off-site)
2 is 2' tall (inside photo)
3 is in the greenhouse.

Those 2' tall plants in the basement will be 3'-5' tall when the greenhouse is harvested. There are 24 plants there, as 12 are being fattened-up for a friends greenhouse up North. Those 12 will go out in a month or so. And so it goes!

Most months of the year, the plants will immediately go into flower as soon as I put them out. The only time they won't is about a 3-4 month period in the Spring when the days finally get long enough and are getting longer.

Max Sea is a brand of water soluble fertilizer (a tip I picked-up from Hodgegrown) and boy do they love it!

Peace
jj

Time for an update pep's.

Here's what's happening in the greenhouse:

The HiJam's are doing great. Gonna get some nice buds off of them in a few weeks maybe 1 month. Should be right around Christmas! Ho! Ho! Ho!:bigjoint:

The Kush (last 3 pic's) on the other hand aren't doing so good. Lots of frosty leaves, but no good buds forming. Check out the trich's building on their leaves, just no good flowers. Looks like they are destined to meet "Ace & The Doper" & become Bubble hash! I think I'll run the whole plant thru, should be pounds & pounds of good hash makins!:blsmoke:

The Hawaiian/Jamaican (Sativa dominant) cross is doing much better than the Kush. Nice frosty buds on this strain!

is there no way you could add some supplemental lighting?? The buds look light deprived...... very nice and triched up and healthy..... but light deprived......

Howdy LD, lights would attract too much attention. But your right.

Due to a serious miss-calculation of just how tenacious the dying leaves on my backyard trees are, they have not received full sun since the Sun angle has changed.

Does this sound familiar? I need to take down 3 large trees in my backyard for Sun!

They will be gone by Spring. But for now those plants will just have to finish out the next few weeks where they are.

Peace
