2 HPS or 1HPS 1MH for flower? +reprep

I might be given a 400w switchable system for 100 bucks. I remember a long time ago I read some stuff about the combo of HPS and MH being awesome for flowering, but it could have been just advertising. I am trying to figure out if adding another 400 watts of hps to my system is best or adding the different spectrum(mh) of light to my flower room is best. I have never even used a MH in my life, only T5s and hps. Any thoughts on this or links would be much appriciated.
 
for flower use hps for veg use mh; adding mh to flower is not as good as adding another hps.
 
im doing that right now i have a 600w hps and a 400w mh in a 4 x 4 tent. i don't know if it will help or not. i would rather run all hps they love the red grow of fall. Im just waiting to buy a new 400 hps

LOL I grew up in your home town brotha! Mira Loma don't know if I spelled that right it's been 20+ years since I left that shithole! This tax return I am going to get a full spectrum setup from the hydro shop. They have a setup less the hood for $200 with my cool guy discount, ;) the full spectrum bulb obviously has all the colors. The guy that is telling me to buy it grows some AMAZING weed! Best I have ever smoked so I trust him completely! I told him that I may just run my 600w MH in there and buy a 1k veg light for veg. He said my plants will blow the fuck up with that blue spectrum so I trust him. I would reccomend you do it cus there is no boubt in my mind that I am going to do it! And if ya think about it the sun doesn't just switch spectrums when it's time to flower!

Ty brother, thats what I was thinking. A lot has changed in 20+ years man, please dont call this place a shithole. I like this places cheap ass rent compared to Encinitas, where I grew up. Hell yeah I think im gonna do it, Have you seen those reflectors with 2 bulbs (MH and HPS in 1 reflector) ? LOL man I am a fucking huge Stern fan and I have called in to him a shitload of times,

1 hps < 1 hps + 1 mh < 2 hps

My opinion is based on everything I have ever read, I have never tried a mixed spectrum. 800w of HPS spectum in flower would out perform 800w of a HPS/MH spectrum during flower. The plants PAR needs change when the plant is put into flower in veg 800w of MH spectrum will out perform 800w of HPS.

Hey man I wasn't trying to be rude but where I use to live was getting bad when we left and I have heard it has only gotten worse! No worries my man sorry if I offended ya! I am a huge Stern fan of course glad to see another. I think tpsmc is correct cus the guy was telling me that if you put a MH in there you will see blue light under the door not oarnge. So maybe look into a full spec bulb setup. If it was me I would run another HPS over a MH! The ladies like the oarnge spec when flowering. I am adding a 600w MH right in between my two 1k HPS!
 
better to stick with 1 Hps in flower,1Mh in veg,your in a 4x4 space,so that should be plenty.I wouldnt try combining them it seems too much for that area.
 
Why don't just get dual spec bulbs? I love mine! I preferred it compared to my mh in veg and HPS in flower. Got better growth rates in both stages with a sun master 400w dual spec

lol too much for what area? I already have an area for veg and flower, niether of which are 4 x 4. If you are gonna comment please read the thread, thanks anyway though.

I am buying a 400w switchable system for 100 bucks just because its a good deal, I might not even use it. I dont really want to buy any other shit besides this, I already have enough lights for my med grow. thanks for the input though.
