2-1 Perlite/Vermiculite Is Dusty.

Ok, so as redundant as the title sounds, this mix is pretty dusty...and the dust from it is bad. I'm growing three young clones in 5g buckets in a wick type system, minus the wick, with a 2-1 mixture of perlite and vermiculite. This is my first grow and I'm definitely ditching this for DWC after it's all harvested. I might have to switch sooner if I can't get this dust under control because my growroom's in my bedroom.

Aside from misting the top of the medium to keep it constantly moist, is there anything I can put over it to combat this problem, without causing another problem?

Dude your on a trail to disaster. Rinse ur medium next time before use, but the dust wont hurt.

With your medium your using i would have added peat moss or something more of a stable root zone and fert absorbtion.Thats a little to ghetto of a hydroponics system with only perl. and verm. :leaf:

The dust is carcinogenic with prolonged exposure, actually. Which means yes, I AM on a trail to disaster. I flushed the medium out pretty good before I did my transplant, but when the top dries it just gets dusty. I didn't flush the bags first though so that may be the problem.

I may just go ahead and go dwc and see if one of my friends has need of this stuff.
