Ok i have 2 plants that have broke soil. I have had them on 24 hours light for the past 3 days. i water twice a day and one is about 2 1/2 inches tall and the other has just now started to show formation of first 2 leaves. I was wondering when should i turn off the lights? Like when do i know when i am out of veg stage and i need to go into flowering or w/e. all i know is that i was told to leave lights on em all day and night until i get 3 sets of leaves and then go to 18/6 or 12/12. I still dont understand. If someone could please help me by letting me know what i should do step by step from where i am now thanks. and be4 anyone post for me to read the other threads...i have and still have many different views from yall so any input will be gladly appreciated.

18/6 or 24/0 will provide veg. growth. how large you veg them deals with how much light you have, have much space you have. Keep in mind that the plants can easily double in size in flowering(if not more than double), so factor that into how large you grow them, when you are ready to begin flowering you would switch up to 12/12. Start reading the GROWFAQ , and it will really help you with the basics.

Step one, cut a hole in the box.
Step two, put your oh wait, wrong.

First off man you need to read the GrowFAQ, it will tell you what your looking for.

BUT, You should buy a timer and set it on 18/6. You are in the veg state now. You can do 24/0, and alot of people do, but your plants need a dark period to respire.

****GENERALLY SPEAKING*****
After your plants are about 10-12" tall, or have 8 nodes, you can switch to 12/12.

BigSix is totally correct in stating they can double in size. I didn't think they would either, I let mine get 18" and since flowering them (7 days ago) it (yes only one female from 2 plants) is now 25" tall. My grow box is 4', but with the lights sticking out from the roof and the big ass 3 gal pot, I am running out of space, and I think I will need to tie it down.

what type of lights are you using? thats important, no vital to your success. if they're compact fluorescent or fluorescent, then they need to be really really close to your plants, like 2" away. if you're using metal halide or high pressure sodium, then it depends. check the GrowFAQ, there's info all up in that biznitch XD
