Hello riu! Very excited. Im starting my first dwc grow. I am looking for some help/tips on my over all set up. I have done one soil grow and had a decent turnout but I want more bud!!

SET UP:

48"×20×52" grow area

8×17w 24" tube cfl( these are currently over head lighting but I'm thinking about making them side lighting and adding different over head lighting)

Bubbleponic/dwc set up. I will be putting my plants in a 35 gallon rubber maid. 3" net pots with clay pebs and rock wool. I am going to try and do 5 plants. I am considering scrog or a small sog. Any input on this as well would be awesome as far as what one to do.

I just got earth juice nutes. Grow, bloom, meta-k, catalyst, microblast. Im looking for a amount chart for my set up right now. I think I found one and I will try and post it soon. I just ordered a bunch of seeds. Not sure which one to do. I got 5 fem'd of each of the following. Black jack, bubbelicious, ak-48, and raspberry cough. Im excited for all of them

Any advice on anything I posted would be awesome! I have about a month before I start my grow so I have some time.

Thanks for any help

I would re think the 5 plants in a 35 gallon rubbermaid. Having multiple plants in DWC in that close quarters is not necessary, it is easier to take care of 1 huge plant than it is to take care of 5 little ones.

I would return the earth juice nutrients if I were you. Any Organics in DWC is a no no. You will get lots of fungal and bacterial growth in your reservoir which, at the very least, will cause havoc to your pH stability. If you want the most fool proof way to DWC just use flora nova bloom, it is the only nutrient you need. Check out hygrohybrid on YouTube his DWC series helped me a lot when I made the switch from organic soil to hydro. http://YouTube.com/hygrohybrid

You want my advice as being there done that. Do yourself a favor and get 3.5 gallon buckets and do the DWC individually in the buckets. You will see when you have to change out that 35 gallon tote every two weeks and your back gets killed doing it. It's a pain to change out a tote, but easy in a small bucket.

Check out my thread: 21st Century Spray and Drain

It can be modified to fit your tight grow space.

Drip Rings (hydro halos are too big for this, but other drip rings are available)+ 1 liter Air Pots + 4" net pots filled with a combination of stones, placed in a tray that drains into a rez

Thanks guys all good info! I can't return the nutes because I have already opened them. I have seen grows where they just have like a 5 gallon pail full of rock wool and they water from one gallon jugs like every couple days. Would that work?

Just from my recent experience, growing one monster plant in DWC, a 3.5 gallon won't cut it as far as flowering is concerned. You'll end up having too many res changes as those bitches will drink 2 gallons daily. I just upgrade to a 20 gallon rope tote.
Oh, and btw, about lighting...it's the single most important investment in one's grow. Seriously consider HID for producing the quantity and quality indoor growers look to achieve. You can find good quality dimmable ballasts and complete light kits on eBay. For your space, I'd say no more than a 400 watt HPS for your flowering cabinet. Your cfls are fine for veg.
