1st grow

I think I started a little late 1 month ago. Any ways I used mericle grow potting soil, peters 20-20-20, and a little wilgrow 23-11-11. they are now in 8" pots buried in the ground. It has rained here for a few days now will that hurt them? Also I heard something about pinching branches, should I do that? One last question,,,,,, When is it ok to clone, I am going to do a indoor for the winter. Any tip would be great.
