I'm having some lower growth problems, does anybody know what this is? So far i've concluded it's not root bound (yet), over/under watering, and i've been told the pH shouldn't be too much of a problem.... even still i bought one that doesn't work.

please help! thanks

  • week 2-3 for elders, 1-2 for younglings
  • MG seed starting potting mix (60%), Peralite (40%)
  • water every 2-3 days (water sits for 24hrs prior to watering)
  • 24/7 light sch
  • 4 CFLs: 2- 42watt @ 5500K (i believe), and 2- 26watt @ 6500K
  • oscillating fan on 6hr intervals on then off

I'm thinking that you made the same mistake I did. I just started a batch of seedlings and I bought some Miracle Grow perlite to mix into the nutrient free soil. Now my seedlings are nute burned. Come to find out, the perlite contained nutrients.

more than likely it's nute burn, it also looks like you are overwatering. Do you have holes drilled in the bottom for drainage?

yo man i have the same set up pretty much but i have 4 42s and before i had those i had a 20 watt and my plants bottoms started to die and i was at week 3-4 and i transplanted them and now they're growing real nice they have doubled almost in height in about a week after transplanting from what they were at. do that and see how they turn out also if you dont have holes in the bottom of your cups that could be a problem:peace:

GrowSpecialist you're a wise man. Sorry forgot to list that, yes the cups DO have holes in the bottom. I got these seeds from some dank bud i smoked over the summer, supposedly Baby Kush? I doubt it was a legit strain, probably just some exotic or headies that someone slapped a name on, but who knows.

Yes growspecialist the MG perlite DOES in fact have nutes- lists them as: 0.04-0.01-0.06- but is that really enough to nute burn, even at such a sensitive stage?

Also, last time I watered the soil was definately flakey dry on top and dry at least an inch down plus the cup was very light. Either way, I'll water less frequently.

Thanks for the help and advice everyone! Very Much appreciated... post pics later today

You will need medium soil .foxfarm ,orangic root soil etc.. this plants will die for sure. mircogrow will choke them .

Juannoisseur, you do no that you should only repot you plants about 2 times? please give them a chance to put some root down.

lehua... no i did not know that i should only repot twice. I've already broken that rule of thumb, i believe the next replant will be #3 or 4?? The first 2 were critical, really more of a newb learning and trying to save the seedlings. ha

yea always try and let water sit a day to evap the chlorine, it's hard on plants.. esp young ones.

Ok so I replanted them, still on 24/7 an same other shit as before.
Thinking that it's Nitrogen deficiency because of the loss and yellowing of the lower leaves, and the growth stunt. What to do?

jesus lord man, what has happened? what did you transplant into? What kind of water are you using? and how often? they look either over-watered or not enough. Try to get a sprayer so you can foilar spray. oh yeah you're using tap right? Try some aquafina or something.. thats what i use.

Haha yea that's exactly what i've been thinking dialup. Bought a cheap pH meter but it didnt work, transplanted into to 8" pots and that lil plastic blue bonnett butter thing (holes in bottom). They were a little underwatered recently and i watered them, but for the most part i've watered them when the soil is dry about an inch down (once or twice a week) Using tap water that's sat for at least 24 hours w/ (recommended) 10-20 drops of Miracle Gro Liquid Houseplant Food (8-7-6).

The girls are being bitches, and I'm obviously ignorant!
