1st Grow - Fluorescent/400w HPS Bubba Kush

Hello all. I've been studying up on growing and cultivating marijuana for a while and decided to do my own grow after enough time had passed and I felt comfortable with my "knowledge." This has been a pretty minimalistic grow, seeing as cash is tight and I more than anything wanted to experiment.

It's been a little over a month now and my two Bubba Kush clones are looking fantastic. They started off at around 4 and 9 inches (one and the other) and now must be around 16-18. It's hard to tell though, since I decided to LST right off the bat.

I am currently working with a 120w 48 Sunblaze Fluro and a HTG Supply 400w HPS with Fox Farm's Ocean Forest and Age Old Grow/Bloom nutes. So far, with barely using any nutes in the first half of vegging, the plant really took off.

I currently have only one fan, plan to buy an oscillating fan soon. Also need a hygrometer, TDS meter, humidifier/dehumidifier (Colorado has barely ANY humidity, but with the HPS, the room definitely feels more humid)

I used to have more pics, but unfortunately the phone that I used to take them was destroyed. But I included close up above shots of both plants, a side view of the biggest girl, and a shot of the room.

Also included so you can follow my grow from the start are the notes I've been taking.

03/12
Planted rockwool clones into transplanter containers to build root system. Only using FF light warrior. Watered lightly.

Lights 3 inches above plants, set to 20/4.

03/16
Tryst (smallest) 12.1cm
Color is good, plant looks healthy.

03/18
13cm
Two leaf tips on Bonita (bigger) are crispy and brown, yellow on some, pH may be off. Will have to wait until my meter gets here.

03/20
Fed both plants 5-10-5 with phosphorous to see if it helps with discoloration.
Soil pH 5.6
Soil temp 68F
Room temp 65F

03/24
Transplanted plants into 12inch, 3-4 gallon pots with 50/50 Light Warrior and Ocean Forest; watered thoroughly. Root systems are healthy and white and have shown exceptional growth.
Tryst 15.8cm
Bonita 25.4cm
Soil temp 59F

03/31
Began LST and plants are taking to it nicely. Watered both plants

04/08
Watered

04/16
Watered and fed Age Old Grow (12-6-6) at 25% strength. Plants were thirsty and both drank a half gallon. Finally got a pH meter and the runoff is at 6.4

04/24
I walked in to the grow room to find a horrifying sight - I put off watering Bonita a little too long and she completely wilted!! She looked quite unhappy and watered the thirsty girl with a full gallon of water which she happily drank. Tryst on the other hand looked quite good but I watered her anyway.

04/27
HPS got here! Not enough time to change the lights before work. Upon close inspection, it seemed a few white flies were buzzing around. In my paranoia, I used a water/soap solution and washed the plants thoroughly.

Afterthought - it was just paranoia. Turned out to be dust particles floating around. Doesn't hurt to be cautious.

04/28
HPS hung up and room was double checked for light proof. Switched to 12/12. Fed and watered both plants.

Soil temp 75F
Canopy temp 81F

Bonita
runoff pH @ 7.1
soil pH @ 6.2

Tryst
runoff pH @ 7.2
soil pH @ 6

Got a hygrometer today! It's nice knowing what my humidity is at lol.

Also got a Blueberry clone (I believe that's what the guys said at the dispensary) which I am going to immediately flower without LSTing most likely, just to see the yield difference. I only paid 15 bucks for it, so if I can get a half eighth, I'd consider that profit. But I'm sure I'll be able to pull more off this lovely lady.

Temp @ 72.0F
Humidity @ 32%, MAX 46%

Watered both ladies again today. They're looking good but are showing a little bit of yellowing. Some spots too. Must be from droplets of water causing slight burning. Will keep an eye on it. pH seems a tad high too. Dunno if my meter is just being wacky, so I will go buy some pH Down and calibration fluid soon. No new pics to really post, will also transfer clone to a larger container tomorrow. Work has been fairly preventative in allowing me enough time to show my ladies some love.

The little girl looks so much happier in her new, more spacious home! Even looks like she's putting on a little bit of new growth already. Nothing else to report for the time being, but you do get pics of the unexciting event.

Woot! My first subscriber XD Welcome to the show. Yeah, I'm curious to see how that BB compares to the two big girls. Should be interesting, and she's definitely more of the control plant here - I just want to see how she grows without any interference. If you're asking about LST works, here's a really good guide/depiction - Topping/FIMMING/Training Guide - (LST is almost halfway down the page but has really good pics lol) but if you're wondering how it's actually doing, as you can see my lovely ladies have bushed out quite nicely. It's all pretty much just tying down the upper growth to promote more horizontal growth and get more light to the lower areas, epecially since I can get my HPS way closer this way.. It definitely shows because I have off-shoots springing up from the bottom as tall as the main cola!

I estimate if I let them stretch they'd be around 15-18 inches tall, which would be a total monster when they start actually flowering. Probably would get ridiculously tall. I should have flowered a lot earlier, but I guess we'll see what happens. I'm excited to see how much weight they put on for sure.

Well, the pistils have shown through and the bud sites are starting to swell a little. Not that it really matters; they were all clones, so they were all guaranteed to be female. No big surprise there. But the pistils still look pretty. Once I can find a more convenient time to drag the plants away from the interference from the lights, I'll supply you with some good porn close-ups. But until then, you can just observe a crappy shot of the three ladies.

OH. And found out my third lady is actually NOT a parent Blueberry, she's a True Blue. One of my fellow medicinal license holding friends acquired an ounce of that True Blue and oh boy, does that shit smell delicious and taste delicious. Can't wait for my little girl to be ready for harvesting.

(and yes, that IS my fluro in the background, lol. Figured I might as well use it because I still haven't figured out my separate veg room, since the closet in my grow room wasn't light proof and I'm too lazy for all that right now)
