Planning on 4'x8' area. Will the 1k give sufficient coverage? How close can I get the lamp to the canopy with a light mover, using air cooled daystar reflector, temps in the room 70-75F daytime?

Well I'm just a newb but I found this in the "Common Mistakes Growers Make".

"Q. How far should the lights be from the plants?
Fluorescent: tips of leaves almost touching bulbs
400 watt halide : two feet away from seedlings and one foot away from grown plants
1000 watt halide: four feet away from seedlings and two feet away from grown plants"

You can get closer with a well cooled light on a light moving track - I'd like to get an idea of how much closer without too much experimentation - wondering if anyone has any first-hand experience they would be willing to share.

Thanks!

ok, did some more searching - lots of disagreement hon this question - answers from almost touching to 2 feet. I'll start at 2' and work from there.

Sounds good, I'd move it 4" closer everyday and see what happens. If the plant starts to wilt, you know the lights are too close so move it up 6" from the wilting point and leave it at that distance.
