150w HPS for a tiny closet.

I'm wondering if a 150w HPS will be too much for a 3'high,2'wide,1'deep flower box. I'm currently using 8 30w CFLs, and without my AC on, temps sometimes reach 89F. I think even though CFLs are cooler, too many CFLs get too hot 'cause each CFL has a ballast in it's base.

Some other grower had the same problem and when he switched to a 150w HPS his temps dropped.

What say you?

It'd be fine depending on the amount of plants any more than 2 you need some supplemental lighting with it. But a150 has a grow area of 2x2 where its supplemental light area is 3x3

If u use the 150watt hps I'd get some sort of Exaust hooked up to pull the heat out a passive intake should b fine

You gotta think that light is gonna take up atleast a foot of that room and u need atleast 4-5 inches between the plants and the light so that is half ur room right there. My experience is the HPS puts out less heat that 8 cfls.

I finally pulled the trigger on the HPS, I bought one that has only 5" height or deep. So 5" +5" between lamp and plant tops, I still have about 2 ft left.
Seems like my only choice is 12/12 from seed. Right now I'm researching which strains will gladly take 12/12 from seed and won't stretch too much.

Thanks guys!!
