Hi all. I have a 150w hps light w ballast mounted inside the reflector hood. It is One of those commercial pre built systems ( I didn't feel like wiring the ballast. ) i would like to upgrade to a 250w hps unit. I'm using a closet and currently my temp is around 80F. I'm wondering how much a wattage increase will lead to a heat increase. I don't have too many options to cool the area. there is already a fan venting air and im still at 80f because the small size and high heat output of the hps unit.
I know more watts = more heat, but how much more?
