where are you putting it? it almost sounds to me that i would just leave the cover on....it most likely already reflects the light....got a link to the light you bought? or can you show a picture?

Peace

Is this a home made light set up because light fitting are connected to the reflector.DONT realy get your question bro but the 1 thing i would say is try to keep you finger off the bulb the oils of your fingers can cause the bulb to exspode. Also with it only been a 150wts i would just hanging just off the tops or even inbetween or a bit of both on the tops 1 day inbertween the others.A little bit of advice try not to mess around with your light fixtures the last thing you want is a fire then banging up in jail once they find where fire has come from be safe.Be safe that don't mean wear a durex while takeing your lights apart but one with a fixed hood.

Sounds to me like he's talking about the glass globe on an econolight hps. Yes take the globe off. Then hang the light horizontally.

If you are growing in a small box that's already fully reflective inside including the roof of the box then you don't need a hood.

If not, sure just make a "batwing reflector" from any scrap piece of metal you may have laying around or you can use rigid heating duct from home depot or wherever.

google batwing reflector.

They will work with no reflector and a shitty setup like in this picture, but you loose a lot of lumens:
