150 hps or 250 hps

i going to be doing it in a closet 2x2x5 with t5 on the side

could i get decent success with the 150 hps?

should i just get 250 hps

cant for sure handle 400 hps heat

that space could defiantly handle a 400 with ventilation

hiya firstimegrower1, is that 2' Length x 2' Width x 5' Height? if so I would plump for the 250wHps, less heat issues to worry about(Though you will still need to monitor Temps & Humidity~just to be on safe side) A 250wHps in a Closet that size will IMHO give you pretty good results(21,000 Lumen Veg bulb & 32,000 Lumen Flower Bulb) walls will be close so if you paint Matt White will get good reflective light.

Have or are you going to Vent/Exhaust out of the Top of Closet, or on side nr Top? Passive or Fan/Filter kit? and what about intake?

EDIT: Reason I said the 250w is I have read the 150w is not so good on the Watts>Lumens>$$$ Ratio running costs

Dont even waste your time on 150. Go with 250 at least especially if you believe that you will upgrade your space eventually. Then you wont be stitting with a worthless 150. Id say shoot for what you will also need in the future and save yourself some $$.

Hope U are not planning to veg w/an HPS bulb...they will stretch.

yet another RIU myth

plants do not stretch and if they do its barely noticeable

Good option is to get dimmable 400W (just $100 on ebay now complete set). Then you have great flexibility like 400W or 300W or 200W out of this with the flip of a switch. I have dimmable 600W and love it!

Just hooked mine up this morning. Love having only 1 power cord, instead of a jungle of cords in the way. And adjusting cfls daily is really retarded if you have ample room.

I grow in a 30x30x40 box.. have 2 mega cropped girls 3 weeks into flowering... tops are 3 inches from 250 watt hps.. have a total of 25 tops from 2 plants.. doin great have a single 4 inch fan blowing over tops... 1 4 inch intake at bottom. And 2 2 inch outake computer fans 6 inches from top of box cady corner from eachother... box never gets over 80... currently 78 and 40% humidity
