150, 250 or 400hps in this closet?

What do you think would suit this closet grow better, a 150, 250 or 400 watt hps? I would be growing in the corner where the ceiling is highest. It is about a 3x3x5 area maybe a little larger. Heat is my main concern come summertime. As you can see I have a window right near the door so I plan on putting a fan right there with the door open. I will be buying a HTG light with a remote ballast so I can place it outside the door for less heat accumulation. I feel that a 250 would be best considering I am growing only DIESELRYDER so the plants will not be getting very big. Another thing is since the 400 is only $2 more then a 250, I'm tempted to get the 400. This is not a big grow by any means but I do plan to have about 5-10 ryders in there at a time...so what do you think guys? Appreciate it

IF IT WERE ME 400whps and move the clothes hanger all the way up but so you can still use the self than hang the hps off of that!!

I have a 400 in a small cabinet. That closet space of yours is great! I must share that I wouldn't go below 400. In fact.. I regret not getting the 600w hps. It is by far the most efficient lumen per watt light. I have a friend who didn't want to go with a 400. She has a 250 and the results are good, but don't compare to my 400... just like that doesn't compare results from a 600 or 1000. You could keep your whole setup under 1200 watts if you ran a 600 with 350+ cfm exhaust fan with carbon scrubber. Then just do propagation under some t8 or t5 fluorescent tubes. JMO

I was leaning towards a 400w for the simple fact that I dont want to waste money on a 150 then regret I didnt get a 400 for only $2 more then the 250....hanging it off the shelf seems like a great idea though I was a little worried about it being so close to the wall. How much heat is a 400 gonna produce in there ya think?

i would rap a cord around the shelf also to blow on the hps
(to hang it at the level where the hps is hopefully there is an outlet in your closet

Go with the 400w HPS, it cover a 3' X 3' well. If you need more light use some T5's or CFL.

there isnt a outlet in the closet but there is one right outside the door(below the window). I just got my 5x dieselryders in the mail today from worldwide marijuana seeds. They did a great job keeping it stealth, came in a dvd case. I'll post a pic in a second. I recommend them though, they got here in 6 business days!

for the area you have you should use a 600w but it will get hot you will need proper intake and out. If you don't want problems with heat then go with 400w HPS but a very good one like sunmaster or Horticulux don't buy a cheap one the lumen output is to low.

ended up going wit a htg 400w hps & some 1gal grow bags. thanks for the advice everyone

I've been using a 400w hps in my 5ftx2ft closest... I just upgraded to a 1000w with a cooltube and 375cfm exhaust fan... remember, the more light, the bigger the yeild... general rule of thumb I've always been told is one pound per 1000watts. But for each their own really... I wish I had gone big first! I scooped up a Lumatek 1000w digital ballast off ebay new for only 270 with free shipping and the cool tube from HTGsupply for 85... horifux bulb for 95.... and squirell cage for 150... should be perfect for me since I'm completely filling up my shelf with 24 3wk vegged hybrids... so I really need that light penetration!

haha you seem to have a hell of lot more growing to do then i plan on. 400w is just fine for wat ill be doin, sog dieselryder. 5-10 at a time, maybe a perpetual grow...come summertime we'll see how the heat situation goes. wat nutes you using illusionz?

How about 3' x 7' w/ two 600 hps? I lost a HPS a couple days ago so a M/H is standing in on the left.
Scrog organic widow - 5' tall N 3 weeks flowering.

A 400 HPS is good for 3 x 3 and if you can a/c the room you'll be amazed at what that little room will do. Did you have the seed shipped to US? Just wondering... I want to get seed but I'm in the US....

yeah... well man, good luck with that!!! but trust me, your gonna want more!!! hehehehe! I started with "but honey, I'm only gonna do 4-5... to... but honey, who the hell is gonna use our spare bedroom!!! I can fit hundreds in there... mwhahaha!" ha, the grow bug bites hard!

I use fox farm all the way! Ocean Forest, Grow Big, Tiger Bloom, Big Bloom, Cha Ching, Open Sesame, and.... shit, whats the other one? Oh well, ya get it!

Oh yeah... dur da dur! the other one is Beastie Bloomz!


BTW, smart man for the perpetual ponders! That do 6 in and 6 out every two weeks! nets me 7-9 ounces every two weeks.... it's the only way to go in my honest opinion! That way you have a steady stream of smoke or cash... which ever you grow for... OR BOTH HEEHE!

very true...those are the same nutes ill be using, simple, safe, effective!! as for perpetuals, smoking takes the cake since i havnt burned in like a month(job) but soon i will be free. then again, a little $$ on the side couldnt hurt. good luck wit u too man
