after your plant has vegged enough ( anytime longer than a month ussually ) on 18/6 or 24 hrs a day of light...... When you think your ready for flower then switch your light scedule to 12/12 12hourslight 12hoursdark ... then you will start budding

also your going to need more cfl's

thanks for the reply.the plants are under a 6400 cfl at the moment(125w)on 24hr,but you recommend more cfl`s for flowering when i drop down to the 2700 cfl for flowering.my cfl`s are 12 inch long bulbs, thought this would cover the area needed nicely for 4 plants....cheers:-o

if you do some reading on the cfl forums you will find out that one bulb will not even do one plant very well. everyone says lots of lights ALL over the plant, as close as possible. i have 3 plants going and 22 bulbs around them. they do grow pretty fast that first week. good luck, keep us posted.

The general rule of thumb is 100 watts per plant. Another, probably more important, factor to consider is the intensity of light that bulb puts out. You need at least 3000 (initial) lumens per square foot of grow space to achieve good growth, but it's advisable that you try to get into the 4000-5000 lumens/ft squared to obtain vigorous plant growth. Side lighting will help develop bud sites on lower branches when your canopy bushes out. Since CFLs don't get too hot keeping them within an inch or two of as much of the plant as you can is reccomended. Hope this helps!:D Keep growin'!

You should just get a 400 watt hid if you are`running 22 bulbs. Would probaly be cheaper to run.
