12/12 from seed
400 watt hps - Will this raise the electricity bill by a noticeable/suspicious amount?

Might choose a strain from the following: Amnesia haze, Big buddha chiesel, Big buddha blue cheese, Super lemon haze

I am trying to harvest as fast and yield as much as i can. If I grow 8 plants do you think its achievable to get around 15-20 oz?

Any methods or tips out there on how to get a nice yield and in general let me know

My 400w used to add about £20 a month to my lekky

I have never done 12 from seed but if your lookin for a good yeild you need to vedge for a 2/3 weeks or ull end up with about 5 oz max!

Look up topping that adds a good amount to your plants and get good nutes and just read up if your not sure

With a 400w as a first grow aim for around 200g.


I've been growing 4 years and generally harvest +400g from my 400w.


It raises my electricity bill around £20 a month. But then there are fans, a dehumidifier and tubular heater that I run also. This extra raises my bill from the £20 up to around £30. That's on top of the normal house electric.

15-20oz for a first grow is very ambitious.

To find out how much it will cost you do the following simple math; you will need to know how much you pay per KWH.

So first say you run your 400w for 12 hours a day; that's 4800w or 4.8kwh per day.

Now take your 4.8kwh and multiple it by the amount you pay per KHW; it will be on your bill.

Now take the number you recieved from the last problem, and multiple it by 30 for days in a month.

That will figure your payment exactly to the dime. My 600w cost me in my area around $14.


For yield, doing 12/12 from seed using a 400w, don't expect much more then 1-1.5 ounces per plant.


For getting a higher yield in general. Research, practice, research, practice.

Your yield is not solely dependant on your lighting.

You will get bigger yields with Hydro than with soil for example.

In soil I would be looking at 1 and a half oz my first grow.

In hydro you might be looking at double that.

I grow in soil.

Do your home work and good luck.

Be sure to post up your final weight.

And ya, your going to want to veg for a few weeks (20/4 should be fine) in order to get anywhere near an optimal haul.
