1000w hps vs. metal halide conversion?

Hey peeps! i have a 1000w grow going (soil) and im about to switch to 12/12 to flower. i used a metal halide conversion bulb to veg, but it says it puts out quite a bit in the red spectrum as well. I was also told by a not terribly reliable source that using a mhc was best as the blue in the bulb helps prevent stretching and helps support trich production with very minimal effect on yield. It is 11 medium sized plants (3 gal pots) in a 4.5/4.5ft room with a 4ft umbrella reflector. they are not crowded so canopy coverage and light penetration shouldnt be a problem (or maybe it is? first time with 1000w light...) I think ive done alright as they look awesome and very healthy.--- the big question i have - the difference in lumen output. the mhc is an agromax @105,000 lumens, and the hps would be 150,000 lumens- htgsupply generic bulb. should i buy the hps or stick with what i have? anyone have any experience comparing the two? is higher lumen output better than wider spectrum coverage? thanks in advance for any help anyone can provide!

use hps its way better for flower

It just depends what you want!

MH will give you denser buds with a little more trich production

while HPS will give you a little more weight barely less trich production and if you grow good enough it should be just as dense.

If its personal smoke and you got more plants lined up go with the MH

If youre trying to sell it and reup go with HPS.

If possible you should switch your bulbs every week or two for a good combination of spectrums

lets say HPS for the first 2 weeks so you get a nice little stretch to give your buds some room to grow

then for the next 2 use mh

then 2 weeks later switch back to hps

then the last 2 weeks should be mh

Either way it gonna be a good grow.

its for personal use only, and i do not have another grow planed as of yet- i figure whatever the yield, with healthy plants all the way through i should have plenty to smoke for a while. have you ever heard/seen of someone swapping bulbs like that every 2 weeks? it seems like a good idea but would it stress the plant out switching back and forth like that?

not that often but theyve done it every month. start with mh for veg then flower first month with hps and second month with mh.

most people who have 2 lights in one tent or room will have one mh and one hps and rotate the plants from one side to the other and they get good results

if you got the time and dont find it a hassle i feel like itll be a good result.

I'm planning on re-vegging my plant after a small harvest should I use HPS or MH to do it? I'm currently using CFL
