1000w HPS 40X40 Tent????

I currently have a 400w HPS set up in a 40X40 tent. I'm thinking about upgrading my lighting. Is a 1000w HPS to much for a that size of a tent or should I just go up to a 600?
 
40" x 40" and you're using a horizontal reflector I'm assuming, 600 would be best. 1k would be 4'x4' and bigger but I'm sure someone here can grow in a 3' x 3' with a 1k, LOL. Vertical lighting w/o reflector would be 54" diameter for 400, 600-60", and my 1k's are at 6'.
