Can I use a 100 watt bulb in a 70 watt hps light(balast)

Serious ? Would you put 1000 hp motor on a stock gearbox ? No ..... No you wouldn't

In a 1kw ballast most accomodating lights are rated 900&something watts, never 1kw. The 100 watt bulb would overdraw the 70 watt ballast and eventually if not right away burn out the 70 watt ballast. In a practical circuit the draw should never exceeds the source.
