100 % hydrocorn in vertical DTW, a bad idea?

Hi growers,
My next grow will be vertical Drain To Waste. I have some experience with coco in recirculating systems. This will be my first DTW and I plan to make a test grow with hydrocorn (Clay pebbles) instead of coco. In this setup I use a relay for exact control of the water flow. I have found that short intervals like 1-5 seconds on and 30 minutes off works in theory. The clay pebbles stays moist and only a few drops of waste water each cycle.

Can I expect a similar yield using hydrocorn instead of coco?

Just an opinion i have no xp with hydro corn or hydro clay pebbles. but it just seems to me there would be so much going through, that it would be a waste if you're not recirculating the "waste" if maybe using fwok and rockwool. that might be cool, cuz i use to dtw with rockwool cubes the 6 inchers. but hydrocorn just seems to be a huge waste and the drying out of the plants seems to be a lot more. considering if ur also in california we're in a big drought too. so just makes sense to recirculate if doing hydro rocks or hydrocorn or what have u.
