1 plant remaining...need help!

Of the 20 seeds that were germinated 12 were crap, 9 were duds and I have ONE that is growing.

Is there anything that I can do to help ensure that this ONE plant I have growing will be a female and not a male?

sorry, but i guess there is no way to make sure of this going to be female. all you can try i guess is to take a clone and force flower it to check the sex and take out the guessing game.

I guess that's what happens when you get bag seed from a friend. I think I am just going to have to break down and order the good seed.

treat your your seeds next time with some rooting/cloning hormone, that increases the number of sprucing plants largely;) and ordering isn't as worth as it sounds, just don't go for banks as amsterdam or bcseedking:D if you order at nirvana or rhino seeds you get good bang for your bucks:)

is this last plant still growing by the way?

If you know what kind of seeds to look for bagseed can work.
I think the better the weed and the fewer the seeds the weed has the better off you will be with bag seed.

You want the larger greenish or dark colored seeds.

I would just soak them in water for about 12 hours and then place them in a damp napkin and place on a plate.
Put the plate in a cabinet that is dark and at room temp or slightly higher.

Good luck next time.

You can have just as much problems out of seeds that you order.

I recomend reading more on germination and then trying your bag seed again.
Atleast it does not cost anything and you and the person you got it from are the only people that know about your grow.

Happy growing

i don't recommend to spruce seed outside of the grow medium for new grower since it is way to easy to harm seedling this way. rather should seeds be started in the medium with some hormone added to it. the hormone increases the sprucing rate better the soaking seeds which i do for quiet some time too, so hormone treatment rules;)

This plant is still growing. I put it is some ph balanced rockwool cube like thing I picked up from the hydrogrow store. I put the seed in the hole with the plant part of it facing up. I'm not sure if you are supposed to place it up or down but I placed it up so that I wouldn't harm the plant.

I am going to try to post a pic so you guys can see what it looks like so you might be able to help me if I did something wrong.

if you put in a spruced seed, the part sticking out is the preroot and has to go down...

Bummer, I put it up. There is however what looks to be the plant that is trying to pop up out of the dirt. It also looks like the root did a little U-Turn and started heading down anyways. Hopefully all will be ok.

This image is sort of crappy but I can tell you that part of the top is green while the bottom half is what I think is the root.

when i chose my bag seed...i look for a few constants..no white seeds those are mostly pre-me's...no acorn seeds you know the ones that look like little acorns on one side....then i roll the seeds between my thumb an forefinger with a little pressure if the seed stays intact i keep it if it rolls apart trash...also dont use seeds with imperfections...like a dent in one side...

with most pics take with uptodate cameras you have to compress the pic with some software, either use the one that came with the digcam or some that like pic manager from mircosoft fullsized office pack, that i use with my pics. i reduce them down to doc size and be fine to upload them here;)

LATE Last night, after 5 Miller Lites and 3 or 4 killer joints, I saw on here, somewhere, where somone posted a thread on being able to identify male seed from female seed, with pics or drawings. I wish I could find that. It was astonishing! mind blowing !
HAS ANYONE SEEN IT ?

fdd has this chart in one of his active journals, don't test me now on this. we had this going here a few weeks back and came to the conclusion that it was one of these myst that is hard to kill but still bull. at least we got not prove it valid so we conclude it would be safe to put it in the myst-box and lock it away:lol:

Hey Roseman,
I just saw the message to go to your thread and I've got a semi-chubbie looking at your pics. I am very impressed.

I wanted to let you know that I am using cfl's currently due to money, or the lack there of. I am running 4 23 watt cfl's at 6500k lumens. I saw that you were also running soft light cfl's in addition to your day light cfl's. Give me some more info as to what you were running and when you implemented the lights that you ran.
