1 m/o: New growth is sliiiiiightly more yellow than bottom leaves

Whats up Rollitup!

So I've been growing my only lass since last month.
Its been getting cold over here in North Al, I take her in every night and make sure to place her at a window that gets a perfect angle of the morning sun. I've got plans to move 'er inside once I complete my microgrow space.
(I will post a couple of pictures to this very minimal issue as described below)

Anyway, It's rained a LOT the last week and I did take her in to make sure she didn't get waterlogged. The soil is definitely very damp, but not too much. I've got a good mix of perilite and some good fluffy, very low nute (~.1% NPK) potting soil. The last two days her top growth is extending, right now growing out her 3rd node into the 4th(second set of 5 fingers). But I've noticed the new growth is ever so slightly yellower than the older growth.

Maybe I'm just overaware/paranoid, I haven't adjusted preemptively because I see a lot of plants' newgrowth as yellow than it's older. I'm not very worried about pH, shes very happy when the sun comes up! The leaves reach for the sky and she(or he I don't knew yet I'm just hoping for anything other 'n male) smells very nice :)

Another issue is I don't have a good magnifying glass sooo it's hard to tell if I'm seeing new growth on the bottom nodes or preflowers! Hell I even see what looks like a microbead so I could have a hermie. I'm not even mad if so! I just enjoy the plant's beauty and the prize it could give me. Just gotta watch out for the bible-belt republicans that would steal my modest livelihood for their astringent "laws".

Like I said, I'll post pics. I just need to get some nice lighting and a good space ^^

Welp I was wrong, its past the node now, growing it's 3rd pair of 5-fingers. They're clustered at the top and hard to tell :P

I have the plant pointing south, using the drain lip (not shown) as a visual guide. Here you can see the dominant side where the leaves love to rotate towards the sun.
See the yellow tinge? I reckon it's a side-effect of the downpoor that just ended a couple of days ago. I
-tried- to make sure not get it too wet. But the soil is still trying to dry out.

This picture got a bit too much light I know it's kinda rough quality, laptop cameras are hard to get the perfect angle!

Here you can see a less dominant, Eastern side of my plant. You can see an odd occurrence on the second node "3-leafer". It's middle leaf is abnormally long and oddly shaped. I'll show a better picture of it below.

Just another shot as a close up of these glorious pairs of fan-leaves. Notice their color difference between the nodes ontop of them? They are greener than they appear, the room lights tend to make pictures misleading. You may be able to see it better on the first picture.

Now to point out the flaws of my lass (even though in my eyes she's perfect!)

This picture is of the 3rd node counting the cotyledon, 2nd pair of 3-fingers. In the middle you can see the leaf's middle finger ruffled at the left side. It is actually curling up tight, but in a small, narrow band on the edge. On the right, what looks to be a classic sign of a bug taking a chunk out of 'er- is actually the leaf's deformation that was there shortly after it grew in total length.

To the immediate left you can see what I describe below.

Here's her main oddity. I've honestly never seen a newborn's middle finger that long...
Maybe shes just saying "fuck you this aint right!" and I'm too dull to see it.

It doesnt look too bad sure overwater a bit.. let the soil dry .. do you have a fan youcan put close.. the girls love some wind and will also help to build a stronger stem.. it will also help to dry the soil if you can put the fan blowing at the top of the soil..

yellowing on top could be a few things but knowing you arent using "hot" soil id consider trying to put some more nitrogen into it.. plant love it during VEG and thats usually what will bring a greener color to the leaves.. for the bottom leaves its hard to tell.. i wouldnt worry too much as long as new growth is healthy.. if they are lacking of nitrogen for example its normal that older leaves die as they supply their nitrogen for the new growth.. all in all its looking good.. but obviously sounds like your plant is put into a lot of stress and different environement (inside/outside, sunny/cloudy days, temp difference, probably Humidity difference , etc..) so I wouldnt expect optimal growth without optimal environment but your plant is still not looking too bad.. just let it dry and she should be fine

Thanks for the reply buddy!

I agree with everything you said. My whole plan right now is to take the plant inside when it gets below 40-45 degrees so it doesn't get too cold and stressed, right now the temperatures fluctuate a lot around here. The humidity stays around 60%, so keeping the soil dry is my biggest concern. I made my soil to be super friendly to this kind of environment, it has a lot of fluff to it that doesn't go away ontop of the visable perilite. But I'm going purely organic right now, I added a very small bit of nitrogen to her along with some potash and I think it liked it! I'll continue to do this every so often.

The soil is drying out nicely thankfully :)

But I'm still on the edge on whether or not I should just letting the sun do the work or switching to indoor lighting. I haven't got around to the grow room yet :eyesmoke: There's a lot of work to be done there, and a lot of room for error. My plan is to let her grow atleast 5 more inches. I am wondering if I should full up the pot with more tasty organic, low nutrient soil while continuing the nitrogen and potash supplements (with a weee bit of phosphorus). My biggest concern is pH since I have no way of telling it, so I am really avoiding big boy nutrients.

Once I start the preflower I have some awesome Espoma orchid bloom booster that I'll add incrementally throughout the process that's super low in N and higher in phosphorus.

The cotyledons are finally deciding to shrivel up. They stayed on there for quite some time!

But it's all looking good now! I just pray to the great ganja overlord that he gives me a glorious female.:peace:

Edit: Every picture I take is during the night hours, keep in mind she is very perky when the sun is up!

Your plant won't start flowering for a long time if you put it outside.
Plus it sounds like its too early.
On top of that, not knowing if it's a female or not ... i would get it under lights.
Don't have to worry about the dark period until you are ready to flower.

At that size, you can just hang two 20W CFL bulbs about 2 inches away from your plant for a week or three.
It will stretch a tiny bit between nodes compared to good lighting, but it creates nice lush leaves and quickly adds a bit of height
Don't add nutes, add microbes... stew up some 24-hour earthworm casting or compost tea once or twice a week. Also, spray down the whole plant with it.

I've given it another round of low dose nutes appprox .3-.2-.05%

I'd love to think 3 days of CFLs could even match this kind of sun... Ugh it's so hard to resist
