Does Chitosan play nice in a sterile system?

Haha I'm sorry. I've been trying to crash-course years worth of chemistry/agriculture in a week and my brain feels like it's melting at this point.

Does Chitosan play nice in a sterile system?

I'm thinking (hoping) that perhaps I can use ORP to determine if it's playing nice or not in a test environment. I'd think that adding it to a solution at around 500mV would lower it if it was conflicting due to wanting to pass off electrons like other organic material and stay the same if it...

Does Chitosan play nice in a sterile system?

This is what I'm referring to: https://forum.grasscity.com/threads/chitin-chitoson-and-chitinase.1132938/ It's one of the things that makes Bud Factor X do what it does, but AFAIK, isn't what everyone is concerned about (Salicyclic Acid).

Does Chitosan play nice in a sterile system?

Also, does anyone know if Chitosan comes up with a bad result from lab testing plants treated with it? Cheers

4 plants in 1 bucket concept. Will it work?

Thanks. I was thinking I'd leave plenty of small holes (about the size of a pen) that would do their best to restrict root growth but allow air bubbles to make their way in. The way I figured it would play out is that the roots would find a way, but hopefully be prevented from strangling the...

4 plants in 1 bucket concept. Will it work?

I'm hoping to create a system that lets me run 4 plants in the same bucket (a large tote). The 4 plants would be feminized autoflowering seeds from the same breed (meaning they are bred from the same parents). The issue that I believe most have (other than one being male which shouldn't be an...

Timing on seed production for Autos?

Hello, I have two primary questions regarding the breeding endeavor I will partake on: 1. If a feminized auto takes approximately 75 days from sprout to harvest and is pollinated as early as possible from the same breed of feminized auto using colloidal silver, around what day will I begin to...

What pH/ppm equipment do you use?

Thanks. I ended up getting the cheap Milwaukee with the manual calibration and some calibration liquids/storage solution. I will eventually spring for the Bluelab Guardian I think and deal with probe replacement as it needs it.

What pH/ppm equipment do you use?

My pH meter died recently. I want to get something better (~$100), but am not sure. I am hearing scattered issues about Bluelab. I'd like something that can last, but also can't justify spending too much on it. What do you use? Which brands do you like?

[Autoflower] Is this a Calcium deficiency?

I want to make sure I update this in case anyone comes by looking at this thread down the line. I find it frustrating myself to see threads like this with no response and no conclusion. There are far too many. This was taken this morning: She looks like she is recovering nicely. She isn't...

[Autoflower] Is this a Calcium deficiency?

Hey thanks for that. I've never heard the term "cation exchange capacity", but it has lead me to a whole new branch of research to explore. Thank you! I'll see if I can muster the courage to let them go without anything more for a week and see how things go.

The Best Deals Thread. Post Best Deals And Lowest Prices Links

Anyone have some decent pricing on drainage/overflow trays? My tray system definitely isn't working out. I'd like something ~3x3' - 3.5x3.5 if possible. For some reason, everything is INSANELY overpriced online.

[Autoflower] Is this a Calcium deficiency?

Update on the Grapefruit: After feeding with the half-strength (of previous feed), adding Silica, and lowering pH down to 5.6, she seems to be responding well. She never really stopped growing, but just looks REALLY sickly. However, the new growth is finally starting to look a little strong! I'm...

[Autoflower] Is this a Calcium deficiency?

I have been keeping these autos under 24/0 light. I just had a power outage for 2 hours. Will this cause issues or will they likely behave normally?

[Autoflower] Is this a Calcium deficiency?

    I decided to change it up and give them half-strength feed with overflow every time instead of water in between. I added Silica as well from GH. Grapefruit: 1.5 - 1 - 0.5 - 3.5 - 0.75 @ 5.6pH Everything Else: 3 - 1.5 - 1 - 3.5 - 0.5 @ 5.6pH I figure that we like to eat every day instead of a...

[Autoflower] Is this a Calcium deficiency?

Thanks. I already have pH up and down. That last post was in regards to how much I need to adjust it.

[Autoflower] Is this a Calcium deficiency?

The pH here is pretty high. The pH of the tap is around 7.5 and after adding nutes, it can go up above 8. I definitely wouldn't want to do that unless the mix had something that brought the pH down. How can you tell if a plant wants MORE nutrients without it really falling into a deficiency...

[Autoflower] Is this a Calcium deficiency?

No chance of bringing it outside I'm afraid. I'm thinking now that my issue is precisely my due diligence. I do not really let the pH waiver from 5.8 and try to be exact every time. I will try letting it change a bit. Next feed: Grapefruit: 3-2-1-7 @ 5.6pH Everything else: 6-3-2-7 @ 6.0pH

[Autoflower] Is this a Calcium deficiency?

I fed them early this morning at 4AM with the above ratio because there was visibly more damage and I didn't want to wait until my normal feed time. Here she is as of 1PM (9 hours after feed and 14 hours since the last picture). The Nitrogen clawing doesn't seem to have gotten worse. There...
